Monday is all about Fabric – #62 – Greens and Peaches

Hello sweet things!

I am losing it over this bundle.  It is just the luscious-est bundle to ever pop in my two hands.  All that green!!  I’m a bit particular when it comes to the shade of green.  I’ll only use it if it’s dark or very light.  I’m not a fan of the primary shade of green, but nevermind all that let’s dig in and see what we are looking at.

This is easily my favorite print from today’s bundle.  It’s from Pat Bravo’s Indie Boheme line that came out last year, I think.  I LOVE it!  It’s called, Gitan Paradis in Foliage.  I like the way it mixes with the peach fabrics I’ve chosen.

This one, called Climbing Posies in Pale, is my favorite type of low volume, some color, mostly white cream, and a tiny print.  This is a Maureen Cracknell print.

Do you ever sift through your scrap basket and see the same fabrics you sifted through before?  That’s what’s going on with my green scrap basket.  Some of them I lift and wonder what I was thinking when I purchased them.  Do my tastes change?  Maybe some of those were from custom quilts and not normally fabrics I would have chosen?  Regardless, I’m sitting on top of a full green scrap basket and something has to be done.

Some of them (the prettiest of the bunch) I’m pulling for my Grandmother’s Flower Garden quilt.  Yes!!  That is happening!  I’ve mentioned it over on Instagram a bunch, but I’ll be showing pics here very soon.  Just trying to get several done before I do and I’m working on a tutorial for that process so if you wanted to do it with me you could.

The rest of the green scraps I think I’m going to do a basket weave quilt.  This will be a free pattern coming soon.  Here is examples of basket weave quilts.  Mine will be very basic and simple as it’s just about using up these scraps for me.

  1. Oh, Melanie, you have awakened in me the Low-volume-print-hoarder gene but not the It’s-okay-to-cut-it-up gene, lol! However, my goal is to make a Grandmother’s Flower Garden quilt so we shall see. Thank you for your lovely posts and amazing inspiration. 🙂

  2. Oh my, these are FABULOUS! i agree that Gitan Paradis in Foliage is spectacular, i didnt know it had bits of gold color in addution to the pink in the flowers…so pretty!! I also love Flutterdust in Haze – that whole Dollhouse line is amazing!!! I have to say, you are slowly luring me over to the beauties of the low volume side also…but i still need color too!!! I need to look about this Grandmother’s Garden Quilt… I must’ve missed that. I dont know what my next big quilt is going to be yet. Working on a smallish grandbaby quilt right now.

  3. Hi . I have always loved the country prints and colors but now I love your color choices and want to make a completely different quilt!
