Monday is all about Fabric – #94 – Essex Yarn Dyes by Robert Kaufman

Today’s post is part of a series on this blog every Monday.

I don’t know about you, but fabric is EVERYTHING!  I love buying it, petting it and then gushing with you about it.  I’ll show you my latest fabric purchases and where you can buy it too.

If you are following me on Instagram or subscribe to the newsletter then you’ve already seen my soon-to-release quilt pattern Bad Girl, if not then you’ll see it here on Friday.

Today though I’m talking about the fabrics I’ve chose for my next Bad Girl quilt:  Essex Yarn Dyes by Robert Kaufman.

I’m so excited about making a quilt this calm, mixed in with low volumes, of course (wink!).  I think this color palette I’m going with feels foggy or misty like a dreary morning, which is exactly what is happening around here most of the time lately.  Winter feels.

I don’t use solids much as you know, but I do like them.  Remember this quilt?  I do love how that one turned out.  Also, if you remember in the Star Dance quilt I used those Kaleidoscope fabrics by Alison Glass and they had the same feel as these Essex yarn fabrics have, them both being yarn dyes and all.  There is a bit of texture there if you’ve never touched a yarn dyed fabric.

This Week

There are several posts happening this week.  Tuesday, I’ll be announcing the next quilt along.  On Wednesday we will be looking at the second installment of the The Great Big Scrap Discussion and on Friday I’m showing off a finished Bad Girl quilt.  Yikes!  Sorry about the extra post, but I didn’t know where else to fit it in at.

Thank you for being a reader of this site and for your support!  It means a bunch.  Have a lovely week!!

  1. Wow, lovely choices. I like the Essex linens as well, and I’ve been collecting some for an as yet unknown project. I’m loving the #iamenoughquiltalong so much that I am thrilled to hear there will soon be another QAL to begin to plan for. So happy I found you and I’m loving what you bring to my quilty world.

  2. Looove the Essex linens. I make hand embroidered dish towels out of the fabric and they are my absolute favorite in my kitchen. I have yet to use them in a quilt- can’t wait to see how yours turns out! 🙂
