Quilt Reveal – Trippy Quilt #4 – Green and Orange and a Hint of Silver

I looked back and the last time I had a quilt reveal that was not a rescue was January.  It was this one.  I guess I’ve been busy with other things.  No matter!  There’s a reveal today of my fourth Trippy quilt.  I’m not going to say that I could make one that I prefer better than that gold version, but I really LOVE this one.

Let’s get all the questions I normally get asked out of the way first!  Trippy pattern is here, it’s part of the Scrappy Pattern Pack.

My other versions of Trippy:

  • The first one – Purple and Yellow – Gifted to my sister
  • That colorful one – HUGE – Commission quilt
  • Then the gold one – The one I’d grab if the house was coming down around me and that everyone said looked like 70s shag carpet

I used scraps for this quilt in shades of orange, shades of green, a tiny smidgen of silver, and loads of low volume.  I also threw in just a bit of teal that was on the green side of the color wheel.  I don’t have the exact fabrics in a bundle for you, but here’s something I put together and meant to be very similar to this version of the quilt.

I used this pic to choose my fabrics.  It was sent to me by the lady who commissioned the quilt.

I quilted this one with an all over design, the scallop bubbles.  Here’s a tutorial for those.  Having the whole quilt done with these made for some yummy texture.  It took quite a while to quilt this one up, but worth it, I think.

Someone asked me recently how to choose what quilting design, and I don’t think there are any rules.  For Trippy though, since it is a very busy quilt and there is no place for the eye to rest, I think it’s best with an all over design.  Why make it overly difficult if you can’t really see it?  I hadn’t done this design on a quilt yet and wanted to, so here we are.

This one is a feel good finish.  Tedious, but fun watching come together.  I’m really wanting to make another gold version for my own bed, but KNOW that it would be such a big task to take on.  Soon though.  My heart is set on.

  1. Do you have a fabric bundle available for the gold one- The one you would grab if the house was coming down around you?? It’s my fave!

  2. Can you just buy the trippy pattern? I would never make the other two and it would be a waste to get all three. Thanks
