This Sugar Bear quilt is the work of one of my fav This Sugar Bear quilt is the work of one of my fave quilters who helps so much with my patterns @thequiltdr . I love Lisa’s jewel tone version of #sugarbearquilt , those hedgehogs! I also love how she did the corners of all her blocks. 🥰
🤎
There is a blog post up today about Sugar Bears fabric requirements. Link in profile and stories. If you are signed up for the quilt along (mar 17), you’ll have received an email from me about all this earlier.
A bit of commission work. #scrappy9patchquilt . It A bit of commission work. #scrappy9patchquilt . It was requested that I not use much white or low volume. They have no idea how hard that was for me. 🤣🤎 I would like to make this one again, but in my colors.....

I’m still new with this ruler work. This might b I’m still new with this ruler work. This might be the third quilt I’ve given a go with it. It is painfully slow (or at least on a domestic it is) but it’s hard to not see that it adds so much. This ruler work of mine is by no means perfect, but I definitely see a little growth. I finished a couple days ago and started on the free motion (my fave, swipe to see). I’ve been working on my skills at this for not two years yet, and it fINALLY looks like the clumsy clunky me I have complained about so often has been semi-replaced with a more confident me. This feels so good. 🤎 I’m loving the work on this #sugarbearquilt . 🤎 The only way to this place tho was through, with all the palm face moments, all the annoying mistakes, all the cringeing. I’ve said before that all the “ugly” quilts are so worthwhile. Ha!
🤎
I get a lot of messages and emails about FMQ. I have a small series on the blog (tutorials>FMQ). One day I’ll chat about the ruler work on there, but I just need more practice before I do. Still there are several tutorials if you are interested.
🤎
I have about a 1/4 left of the quilt to finish with the free motion. I’m adding feathers, succulents and elongated curls. I’m enjoying myself and I hope to finish today. Fingers crossed! 🤞🏻
This is the work of the lovely talented @tracylouk This is the work of the lovely talented @tracyloukota . She’s testing #sugarbearquilt for me. 🥰 I just wanted to show you how fun the quilt can look with an emphasis on fussy cutting and with a scrappy LV background.
🤎
The pattern releases 3/8. And the quilt along begins 3/17. The pattern is currently available as a pre-order in paper format.
🤎
Alright, now let’s gush about how cute those fussies are and how Tracy is killing it!! 😍🥰💗🐻🌸👌🏻👏🏻🐻
I have so enjoyed the #anthologieqa . I wanted to I have so enjoyed the #anthologieqa . I wanted to take a moment to thank you all who participated and who made this quilt with me. Your kindness, encouragement and love to myself and others meant so much. Big hugs! 🤎

With the release of my Patchwork + Make class this week I’m on the topic of the beginner quilter.  I get quite a bit of questions in my inbox from beginners and it’s almost always the same ones, so I thought I’d take a moment today and just answer a few basic questions and then move on to the tips I’ve been collecting. I won’t be teaching anything today, just pointing you into the right directions.   Product Spotlight The Very Bari Bundle 12 pieces Fat quarters Will hopefully inspire your inner bohemian Get your bundle here.  ...

Carolina Mingle Quilt – #3 – Quilt Reveal

I love, love, love doing quilt alongs with y’all.  It really motivates me to stay on track and get things finished.  I was also crazy inspired by these fabrics.  I’m normally not into red, but the navy owned me to the bone and I loved the way the red roses popped from everywhere. Today, I’m showing you my third Carolina Mingle quilt.       It’s nice to mix in a few quick and simpler quilt makes between some of the more difficult.  Sometimes I like to challenge myself, other times I just want to make for the...

The Migration Quilt – #3 – quilt reveal

I’ve broken free of my usual boundaries.  My usual boundaries, of course, being my love for low volume backgrounds.  This was not free will.  This is a custom quilt where I was told what background to use.  While I’d prefer to see this quilt with my usual background, it’s also nice to move out of one’s way and try something different.  I love the way those Liberty “butterflies”  pop out of the dark background. Let’s talk more about the Migration quilt.   Product Spotlight  Mystery low volume bundle: 10 pieces Your choice of size Purchase here.    ...

The Basketweave Quilt – Quilt Reveal

I got to playing around with my scraps and a new Basketweave quilt is what became of that time. This is my second Basketweave, the first precedes the blog, but it wasn’t pretty.  This one is pretty, but something is still not right. Apparently, I didn’t care.  As you can see I finished it.  But I’ve got some ideas to make this better.   Product Spotlight Flutter Cotton and Steel Melody Miller Fat Quarter Bundle 18″ x 22″ Each Fabric 100% Premium Cotton Smoke Free/ Pet Free Shop Shop Here.     What’s a Basketweave Quilt? The Landslide Quilt #2 – Pattern Release + Quilt Reveal

Hello, lovelies! Today is the official release OOOOOOF…. Landslide quilt! Can you tell I'm excited?  I'm beyond happy with this quilt, with the process, with my yummy collection of low volume, with patchwork, with making quilts, oh my goodness, I'm just happy with everything.  And maybe a bit overwhelmed.  Ha! I wanted to get a post up before about scrapping, but I wasn't able to.  Instead, I'm just going to add that information into this post.   When I make quilt patterns I make them for myself and for those who are just like me, but I'm hoping if you...

Good Girl quilt #2 ( quilt reveal ) + Get a quilt done in a weekend

Hey sweet friends! A week or so ago I tested one of my own patterns to be sure that YES, it can be completely finished up in a weekend.  Well, at least the throw size can. I’m showing off my second version of my Good Girl quilt.  This time is luscious plums, purples and lavenders. Find the pattern here.         For this quilt, I made the lap throw size once again.  I think it ends up really close to 60″ square, but not quite.  This is a great size for just putting on your lap...

Me + Low Volumes = LOVE – Little Miss Sawtooth Quilt #2 ( quilt reveal )

I was so ridiculously pleased to get to visit this quilt again. For those of you who are newer around here, Little Miss Sawtooth was a quilt along I did late summer of 2017.  It was meant to practice flying geese units, but also learn how to change up quilt blocks to make them your own. You can read more about the quilt along here. So let’s go put on a pot of tea, sit and sip, and gush over fabrics and springtime.  Go ahead, I’ll wait.  I’m already sipping my own tea.     During the quilt along...

The Morning Sun Quilt Along – Month 3

There are already so many gorgeous Morning Sun quilts being made on Instagram!  I’m squealing over all of them.  Take a look here.  I love how laid back and easy going this quilt along is going.  You get a whole month to complete the blocks. This month, April, I think will be the most difficult with 32 blocks of double half square triangles.  It’s a lot of HSTs to square up and a lot of lines to draw, BUT when they get sewn into rows, they are just the loveliest and really frame up our quilt. Want to join...

Quilt Reveal – The Good Girl Quilt

Oh, this quilt! I’m really digging it.  I’m not sure if it was just the colors chosen that really suit my style, the abundance of low volume which I know you know I’m into, the incredible beauty of all those blue AGF fabrics or just the simplicity of it, but I’m going to put this down as one of my personal favorite makes. And I believe it’s all those things that I love coming together.         I needed a quick quilt to make for a wedding shower I’m attending in a few weeks, and this was...
