This Sugar Bear quilt is the work of one of my fav This Sugar Bear quilt is the work of one of my fave quilters who helps so much with my patterns @thequiltdr . I love Lisa’s jewel tone version of #sugarbearquilt , those hedgehogs! I also love how she did the corners of all her blocks. 🥰
🤎
There is a blog post up today about Sugar Bears fabric requirements. Link in profile and stories. If you are signed up for the quilt along (mar 17), you’ll have received an email from me about all this earlier.
A bit of commission work. #scrappy9patchquilt . It A bit of commission work. #scrappy9patchquilt . It was requested that I not use much white or low volume. They have no idea how hard that was for me. 🤣🤎 I would like to make this one again, but in my colors.....

I’m still new with this ruler work. This might b I’m still new with this ruler work. This might be the third quilt I’ve given a go with it. It is painfully slow (or at least on a domestic it is) but it’s hard to not see that it adds so much. This ruler work of mine is by no means perfect, but I definitely see a little growth. I finished a couple days ago and started on the free motion (my fave, swipe to see). I’ve been working on my skills at this for not two years yet, and it fINALLY looks like the clumsy clunky me I have complained about so often has been semi-replaced with a more confident me. This feels so good. 🤎 I’m loving the work on this #sugarbearquilt . 🤎 The only way to this place tho was through, with all the palm face moments, all the annoying mistakes, all the cringeing. I’ve said before that all the “ugly” quilts are so worthwhile. Ha!
🤎
I get a lot of messages and emails about FMQ. I have a small series on the blog (tutorials>FMQ). One day I’ll chat about the ruler work on there, but I just need more practice before I do. Still there are several tutorials if you are interested.
🤎
I have about a 1/4 left of the quilt to finish with the free motion. I’m adding feathers, succulents and elongated curls. I’m enjoying myself and I hope to finish today. Fingers crossed! 🤞🏻
This is the work of the lovely talented @tracylouk This is the work of the lovely talented @tracyloukota . She’s testing #sugarbearquilt for me. 🥰 I just wanted to show you how fun the quilt can look with an emphasis on fussy cutting and with a scrappy LV background.
🤎
The pattern releases 3/8. And the quilt along begins 3/17. The pattern is currently available as a pre-order in paper format.
🤎
Alright, now let’s gush about how cute those fussies are and how Tracy is killing it!! 😍🥰💗🐻🌸👌🏻👏🏻🐻
I have so enjoyed the #anthologieqa . I wanted to I have so enjoyed the #anthologieqa . I wanted to take a moment to thank you all who participated and who made this quilt with me. Your kindness, encouragement and love to myself and others meant so much. Big hugs! 🤎
There are three bundles on the blog today for #mon There are three bundles on the blog today for #mondayisallaboutfabric . 1️⃣ Funshine is our first bundle for Sugar Bear and it’s meant to look like mine. 2️⃣ is @beelori1 ‘s Bee Cross Stitch. Most of my weekend was spent working on the quilting for my Sugar Bear. It’s slow going. The ruler work went better Sunday than Saturday. I’ll show more later in stories.

Applique – Using Interfacing or Heat n Bond Adhesive

Since these two methods are so very similar, I decided to pop a video tutorial about both of them into the same post.  Before we get to that though, let’s talk about each of them and I’ll tell you what I like about each one. Please note that these two methods are for RAW edge applique. Fusible Interfacing – I use Pellon 911 mid-featherweight.  Find it in my shop here.  The interfacing will fuse to the wrong side of your fabric.  It’s a bit thicker than the adhesive, so if I’m appliqueing something light to something dark, I’m...

I designed a ruler! The half rectangle triangle ruler + video tutorial

I have been waiting for this day for almost a year.  I designed a ruler for making half rectangle triangles last year while in the midst of the Bad Girl quilt along.  We were making all the HRTs with a paper template, do you remember?  So one day I sat down in Illustrator with a notebook and made ever line, every number, exactly what you see in the picture above.  It’s hard to believe that a file in my computer conjured up this tangible piece of acrylic.  Can you tell I’m excited? I asked Havel’s Sewing to manufacturer...

Testing Threads + Your Thoughts

Hey sweet friends! I’ve been quiet this week, I know.  I’ve been battling un-inspiration.  That may not be a word, but it’s definitely a thing.  I have felt zero desire to sit at my machine and get my quilts completed.  Instead I’ve been sitting in different places, like my sofa, my front porch swing and my lounge chairs out back.  I’ve been dragging around an old completely handmade quilt and doing a repair job on it. I’ve been pretty happy for the break. I also think I’ve mastered whip stitch repairs, which is new for me.  Normally I do...
