WIP – Trip Around The World Quilt – Progress

I know I’ve written about this quilt before, but can’t seem to find that post.  Regardless, this was a quilt I started back in 2016.  I pulled the blocks out of their little basket stored with other WIPs I’ve lost interest in.  There they were all purple, gray and yellow.  Seems like I remember choosing the color palette based on another quilt I saw and loved on Instagram that I’ve long forgotten about.  Whatever.  The blocks were still pretty even if they were covered in a layer of dust. While I do love some of the blocks and...

The Basketweave Quilt – Quilt Reveal

I got to playing around with my scraps and a new Basketweave quilt is what became of that time. This is my second Basketweave, the first precedes the blog, but it wasn’t pretty.  This one is pretty, but something is still not right. Apparently, I didn’t care.  As you can see I finished it.  But I’ve got some ideas to make this better.   Product Spotlight Flutter Cotton and Steel Melody Miller Fat Quarter Bundle 18″ x 22″ Each Fabric 100% Premium Cotton Smoke Free/ Pet Free Shop Shop Here.     What’s a Basketweave Quilt? Good Girl quilt #3 – quilt reveal

Sigh…. You know how much I love this quilt.  It might be my favorite quilt pattern.  Well, at least in the top two of my favorites.  It’s such a scrap buster. If you haven’t already purchased my Good Girl quilt pattern, do so here.     This was a custom order quilt, so I don’t get to keep this one.  Not that I have kept any of them.  🙁  I keep giving them away as gifts.  I really need to make myself one of these, but I already have so many quilts.  I doubt I’m alone in this. Here’s...

Progress on Carolina Mingle Quilt

Hello sweet friends! If you’ve been following along with me on IG then you probably seen all the pictures in this post before, but I wanted to show them to you here as well. I’m going to chat a bit today about my newest quilt pattern (releasing 9/14) called Carolina Mingle.     Backstory I’m a true lover of lone star quilts, but just haven’t had the time to make one.  There is some difficult cutting and piecing and so I’ve put it off.  I wanted to design a quilt that made me think of a lone star quilt,...

Hand Cut Heart Quilt #7 + Free Quilt Pattern – quilt reveal + video tutorial

Today I’m showing off my 7th version of this quilt, all in blue this time, and I’m updating my tutorial of this block. I’m killing it lately with my scrap busting.  Making monochromatic quilts is the way for me for this.  Here’s what I do:  I have a basket for each color of my scraps.  All the pink and reds have a basket, all the greens, all the blues, each has their own basket.  When the basket gets full, it’s time to USE them.  If I don’t, I won’t have any place to put incoming scraps, so there’s my...

The Landslide Quilt #2 – Pattern Release + Quilt Reveal

Hello, lovelies! Today is the official release OOOOOOF…. Landslide quilt! Can you tell I'm excited?  I'm beyond happy with this quilt, with the process, with my yummy collection of low volume, with patchwork, with making quilts, oh my goodness, I'm just happy with everything.  And maybe a bit overwhelmed.  Ha! I wanted to get a post up before about scrapping, but I wasn't able to.  Instead, I'm just going to add that information into this post.   When I make quilt patterns I make them for myself and for those who are just like me, but I'm hoping if you...

The Rescue Quilts – #4 – The Landslide Quilt ( quilt reveal ) – The New

Hey y’all. It feels like a long time since I did a quilt reveal.  This thought made me go back and look and the last reveal I did was early May for this quilt.  That’s not to say I haven’t worked much since then.  I’ve got several quilt tops in the making, just no finishes. But today that changes!  It feels good to finish a quilt.  And this quilt feels especially good because it’s for my son, who apparently is pretty easy to please.         So if you read my post from last Friday then you...

Good Girl quilt #2 ( quilt reveal ) + Get a quilt done in a weekend

Hey sweet friends! A week or so ago I tested one of my own patterns to be sure that YES, it can be completely finished up in a weekend.  Well, at least the throw size can. I’m showing off my second version of my Good Girl quilt.  This time is luscious plums, purples and lavenders. Find the pattern here.         For this quilt, I made the lap throw size once again.  I think it ends up really close to 60″ square, but not quite.  This is a great size for just putting on your lap...

All About Scrappy Binding + Coin Quilt #2 (quilt reveal)

The other day I asked you about scrappy binding on Instagram.  I was surprised how even things were on this topic.  There were many who loved it, many who did not, and many who had never heard of it. Today I’m going into details about where the scrappy binding comes from, how to make it yourself and lots and lots of pictures.   Where it comes from You’re binding a quilt and are left with this piece of binding.  Sometimes it’s ten inches, sometimes it’s twenty.  It can be any size under the moon, but there is almost always...

How to use the Hex N More Ruler to cut half hexies + Quilt Reveal – Hexagon quilt #7

This ruler can be used for SO many things.  With this ruler you can make 4 different size hexagons and 4 different size equilateral triangles.  There is also some other shapes (a jewel) that I haven’t even explored yet.  In this tutorial I will show you how to use it to cut half hexies.  Buy your ruler here. I only like to buy rulers that I know I’ll be using for multiple quilts.  And I only like triangular rulers that have the notches.  This takes out all the guess work on your piecing. If you make a lot...

Quilt Reveal – Hand Cut Heart Quilt #6

I have way too many scraps. SO. MANY. SCRAPS. You just can’t throw them away.  Heaven forbid. But if you are not using them they pile up quicker than itty bitty kittens. The trick is to use them quickly, but who can keep up with that? I got a quilt order for my Hand Cut Heart quilt. You remember it?  Here and here. I was so happy to make it. My red/ pink basket of scraps was spewing out on all sides. And I got to dig through the low volume stash. A favorite pastime of mine. I have a...

Quilt Reveal – hexagon quilt #3

A little history The hexagon quilt goes by many names throughout history:  Honeycomb, Mosaic and sometimes Six Sided Patchwork.  It’s beginnings were random layouts without too much attempt at color or design. The first hexagon quilt pattern was published in 1830 in The Godey’s Ladies Book according to WomenFolk.com.  It was popular because a quiltmaker could use many tiny scraps of cloth and it was soon realized that the design possibilities were endless. By 1930, hexagon quilts had mostly ceased to be random and became patterns that we know today like “grandmother’s flower garden” or “Field of Diamonds”....

How to make a hexagon quilt with half hexies – free quilt pattern – 5 different sizes

Hey, hey! This week is MY week of hexagons.  I have cut up 3 different hexagon quilts, one of them is for a  custom order you will see in this post.  Very scrappy.  Two more to come soon, one will be a new pattern.   I’ve been asked for a tutorial and pattern details for this hexagon quilt that uses half hexies.  This will be a LONG post, so let’s get right to it.  No history this time.     I am NOT in to spending money on rulers I don’t use.  I’ve made that mistake before, maybe more...
