A Dresden Quilt #9 – Jewel Tones – Quilt Reveal

A Dresden Quilt in Jewel Tones

Forgive me in advance for the really bad pictures today. This quilt was a whopping 96″ square and I couldn’t get a full picture of it no matter how hard I tried.

If you missed my “progress” post on this one, you can find it here.

About the Quilt

Because of the size of this quilt I went for a more simpler quilting on it. The Dresden plates I was a little more creative with. They have swirls in their centers and something similar to echoing in the actual blades. The background is just your basic meander.

It’s been a while since I just did a meander and I was happy with how quickly it all came along. I spent so much time making the Dresden blocks that it was refreshing that at least one part of this quilt moved a bit more quickly.

If you’ve never meander FMQed, I have a tutorial for it here.

More

I used the Pink Watercolor Floral wide back for the backing on this one. We have it in the shop here. I LOVED the pink stripe binding! It’s from the Sanctuary collection here.

I’m still in love with the machine Ditch Binding method. This picture really shows how hidden the stitches are. It looks so clean and neat without that pesky stitch line showing on the quilt top. If you haven’t tried it yet, I have a video tutorial for it here.
