Trippy Quilt – Pattern + Class Release

I feel like I have climbed a mountain getting this one done! Filming every part of me working on this quilt was more time consuming that I had expected. Lol. Just in case you don’t know why I filmed every part…. Trippy is not only a pattern that I’m releasing today, but it’s also a class over on my Quilt Class site.

Trippy Quilt

There’s a lot of ways to get this pattern:

You can choose which way works best for you. I’ve created the class for an advanced beginner quilter. We still walk through everything together though! Here’s a list of everything that is included in the class:

This class is great for anyone who has completed a few quilts already and knows the basics, but wants to challenge themselves a bit more.

Here’s a little video I made about it:

A few more details about the class

A bit about the pattern

Trippy quilt pattern IS A Trip Around The World pattern. Trip Around the World quilts come in several different styles and date back generations. I am not the creator of this pattern or this method of quilt making, but I have put my own mark on this idea. I’ve resized it to have minimum fabric waste, simplified the instructions and added a bit more of a modern look to it. There is no cohesion running through this quilt like in many Trip Around The World quilts you might have seen. Instead, anything goes! Choose a color palette and then collect fabric in those colors!

Trippy is an essential pattern for using up width of fabric scraps (42″-ish). I’ve written this pattern in the usual way, where you gather the required amount of fabrics, and of course you CAN make this quilt in that way, BUT I want to encourage you to give no thought at all to how many fabrics to include and instead collect the right amount of “strips” (42″ wide). This is much more fun and encourages you to actually use your scraps or fabrics that are less than a 1/4 yard sitting in your stash. The only rule: They need to be 2 1/2″ wide and fit your color palette!

This pattern is also available in a videoed self paced class.

Blogged about the quilts I made with this pattern here.

Keep scrolling! I have pics from some of my testers at the bottom of this post.

We have bundles!

We have many Trippy bundles right now. You’ll find all of them on the kit page for Trippy here.
