Soulshine Quilt Class

What we’re making:
The Soulshine Quilt, a beginner-friendly star quilt made with two simple blocks.

About this class:
In this class, we’ll work through fabric prep, block construction, layout, and hands-on quilting techniques. You can choose a scrappy or modern version and move at your own pace as we quilt the project together inside Quilty Class.

Timeline:
We’ll begin around February 15 and wrap up sometime in March.

In this video, I’m quilting and finishing my Soulshine mini quilt. You’ll see a mix of free motion quilting and ruler work as I quilt the background and foreground, bind the mini quilt, and finish it with hanging corners and a dowel for display on my mini quilt wall.This mini is based on the Soulshine Quilt pattern, a beginner-friendly star quilt made with two simple blocks. The Soulshine Quilt Class is almost here! Starting around mid-February, we’ll be making a beginner-friendly star quilt built from two simple blocks, the Shine Block and the Soul Block.In this class, you can choose between a scrappy version using fat quarters or a modern version using coordinated fabrics. We’ll move at a relaxed pace as we work through fabric prep, block construction, layout, and then go a little deeper than usual by quilting the quilt together. We’ll focus on quilting the foreground and background differently to really bring the design to life.This is not a rush or a strict quilt-along. I finally finished my Fernweh quilt, and I’m sharing a closer look at the finished piece.This is the 72" x 72" Fernweh quilt, originally part of our 2023 quilt along. Even though all of the quilt top demos have been available for a while, I only just finished this quilt recently, and it felt really good to slow down and enjoy the final steps.The quilt top is made with Garden Therapy fabrics and backed with a coordinating wide back from the same collection. Today I’m sharing a closer look at Looking For Myself, a new basics fabric line built around highly detailed, kaleidoscope-style prints with lots of movement and texture.
