My Soulshine quilt is finally finished, and I'm so excited to share it with you!In this video, I'm taking you on a close-up tour of the completed quilt, including the front, the back, and all of the quilting details. This version was made using my Calm + Content fabric collection and features custom free motion quilting throughout.The stars are quilted separately from the background, with ruler work to emphasize each star and a flower stitched in the center of every one. The background is filled with free motion doodle quilting using flowers, feathers, and leafy vines, creating lots of texture and movement. I also finished the binding by hand with a chunky running stitch, one of my favorite ways to finish a quilt.If you'd like to make your own Soulshine quilt, you can grab the pattern below. Before I start free motion quilting, I always make a plan.In this video, I'm sketching the quilting design for my Swayful quilt on my iPad before I ever sit down at the sewing machine.
