There are some projects that give me the same gidd There are some projects that give me the same giddy, obsessive feeling I had when I first discovered patchwork. And this mini quilt wall is doing it for me.

I vividly remember 2008, sitting on Google and finding all these blogs with pictures of patchwork. Any patchwork at all. I was hit with this massive need to cut it all up and sew it all back together.

And then, every once in a while, boom. A new quilty project comes along and you get that same loving rush of excitement all over again. I’m always chasing those old feelings. 🩷

I always love this part. The sewing is done, the quilting is done, and all that's left is getting it up on the wall.

For this one, I used two hanging loops instead of the three I used on my sample. Both work great, but if you're curious, the third loop does a better job of hiding the pushpin. Little details like that always seem to matter more to me after the quilt is finished 😅

In this final chapter, we're adding fabric hanging loops, inserting the dowel, and getting the mini quilt up on the wall. It's a short chapter, but it's the one that takes the project from finished quilt to finished display.

I finally got the Dresden attached, and seeing it sitting on that quilted background made me ridiculously happy. All those little blades, all that straight line quilting, and now it actually looks like the quilt I’ve been seeing in my head.
I went with the traditional method on this one, top stitching around the edges and stitching in the ditch between the blades. It takes a little more stopping and starting, but I really love the definition it gives the Dresden.
And yes, I definitely spent some time just standing there looking at it before moving on 😅
