Requirements
I will be using the Quilt in a Day Half Square Triangle Ruler many times in my video tutorials. There is one block that it is essential for (block 4 Gabrielle). If you don’t have it, I’m including a template, but let’s be real, it’s easier with the ruler. You’ll also see me using Havel’s new 6.5″ square ruler and my fussy cut rulers too.

Let’s Talk Fabric
I don’t know about you, but after I’ve decided on the pattern of quilt I’m going to make, it’s ALL ABOUT THE FABRIC. You just have to be as obsessed as me, aren’t you?
This Wednesday, we will be digging in deep talking about fabrics for this quilt. I’m talking what fabrics look best, backgrounds vs. prints, what’s going where and how I’ve got the fabric requirements divided up. We will be discussing all of this on Wednesday. Plus, I’ll be showing you all the blocks that we will be making in this quilt!
Today, however, I’m showing you the fabrics I’ve chosen to sale over at Meander + Make curated especially for this quilt along. I’ve made two bundles for you to choose from (if you want them). Let’s gush!
Our first bundle is called Autumn Joy. These are the fabrics I will be using in my own quilt that I make with you. I may add in a fussy cut or two if the mood strikes. Fabrics in this bundle are listed below, but if you are interested in the whole bundle, you’ll find it here. There is lots of peach and blush, brown, gold and a toasty camel color too that I’m absolutely in love with.
- Aerial Clay
- Bees & Bits Mellow
- Diaphanous Tawny
- Discovered Warmth
- Fields of Goldenrod
- Firefly Beam
- Gitan Paradis Pearl
- Illusion Pink
- Jumpsie Daisy in Gumball
- Pure Solid in Raw Gold
- Rooted Warmth
- Rose Tiles
- Simple Living
- Spicy Brown
- Streakly Business Gold
- Wandering with Doe
- Passionate Spirit Salmon
The second bundle I’ve curated is called Spellbound. This bundle is extra luscious. These are what I always call moody colors. There’s rich maroon or wine, purples, a bit of gold, violets and bluesy shades including aqua and teal.
- Episodic Blooms in Rosa
- Gille Wishes
- Greeka in Fouxia- Skopelos
- Lace Edgen in Golden
- Pure Solid in Purple Wine
- Enchanted Floral Ablush
- Mirror Lake Moonlit
- Refractions Violet
- Shrub Charm Currant
- Astral Rain Potion
- Birds and Love in Gold
- Cornered in Regal
- It Takes Two in Bone
- Cotton Couture Solid in Ocean
- Cotton Couture Solid in Spa
- Jumpsie Daisy in Sweetice
You can find the whole fat quarter bundle here.
Please keep in mind that the bundles above are for the prints or colored part of the quilt (the star inside and the star points). It does NOT include the background for your quilt. I have however created special listings for scrappy low volume background bundles as well that will include enough background fabric for the whole quilt, just in case you want.
If you want more details on this scrappy low volume background I’m going on about, you can read about it here.
Patchwork + Quilt (a class for learning to quilt)
If you are signed up for the Little Miss Sawtooth Star quilt along newsletter, you’ll receive an email this Wednesday that will direct you to that post with the deep talk about the quilt. Look for that if you are curious or want further details.
Please don’t feel any pressure to purchase one of the fabric bundles from me. This is a great quilt for scraps (except the background), so you may want to shop your own stash. If you do end up purchasing a bundle of fabric, I just want to give you a big hug and say thank you. I really appreciate your support with the fabric shop. It’s so scary to buy that much fabric at once when I’m leaning towards growing slowly, but with the last quilt along we did you made me sell out of bundles on the first day. I was so unbelievably grateful. Fingers crossed you love these bundles as much as you did those.
Thanks again, sweet friends! It’s so nice to have a community of such loving makers.
The Next Quilt Along starts this September!
I haven’t started the Bad Girl Quilt…. But I WILL…. and here I am signing up for the Little Miss Sawtooth Quilt. I am mesmerized by it, And I cannot get enough of all of your designs… and your blog ….. and your fabric suggestions…. Sadly, I have enough fabric to last me a while, so I will strive to create these quilts with my own stash for now. Who knows? I might need to reward myself with something like a bundle of background fabrics…. 🙂
You are the sweetest! Thank you so much!
I reviewed the supplies list for the upcomming quilt and have a couple of questions. What does the quilt in a day HST ruler look like? Should it be 6 1/2 too. Im good with investing the the proper tools, just unsure what this is. Thanks
There’s a link to the ruler in the Introduction, but here it is: https://meanderandmake.com/quilt-in-a-day-half-square-triangle-ruler/ 🙂
