@reliable sent me their new iron, the Velocity 180 @reliable sent me their new iron, the Velocity 180IR. 💕 I currently use their Maven model, but this one is different, more like a traditional iron, and much more affordable. I was very impressed with the amount of steam offered, and one thing I liked better about this one than the Maven was the swivel cord and the color.

Mabel (pronounced Maybelle) was my grandmother's s Mabel (pronounced Maybelle) was my grandmother's sister-in-law. I didn't know her well, mostly only through Grandma's stories. She lived her entire adult life widowed and never remarrying (that's the only thing I really knew). I went on a visit to her house, one of my last moments with my Grandma around 2016, and it felt like stepping back in time. It was Victorian chic and hand stitching, all paired with the tiniest cottage I've ever been in. I felt transfixed. It wasn't just the warm feelings of the cottage, but what she had done with what little she had, what she had done with mostly needle and thread—the feeling she had created inside the cottage. Anyway, that short little visit is what inspired Modern Granny. #ModernGrannyFabrics is an 18-piece collection that releases mid-January. Confession: I always feel like my "fillers" could Confession: I always feel like my "fillers" could be better. ALWAYS. I chastised myself, thinking, "If you quilted more, they'd be better." BUT when I'm done with the quilt, I almost always love and feel proud and good about it. Something in the doing makes me feel unsure, or maybe just a bunch of self-doubt. I used Kimono Silk in Obi from @superiorthreads . It's a bit darker than I'm comfortable with, but I love it! I quilted on an @berninausa Q-20 sit down longarm. Took me 7 sessions. #carolinaminglequilt
