Happyfolk Quilt – Gingerbread – In Progress
Happyfolk
I’ve started a new quilt this week. I designed this one late fall last year, but ended up giving it a huge adjustment just this past January. The blocks will be pretty big and each block features a Dresden in low volume fabrics. A double pointed Dresden! So much work! There’s not even that many blocks, but these lovelies took me quite a while to work through. The nature of a Dresden plate I guess.
Find the Happyfolk pattern here.
You can find all my Dresden plate tutorials here, including the double pointed version.
Let’s dig in…
Beginnings
My progress on this one is not much and doesn’t show you enough about the quilt, I know, but I’m getting there. All the Dresdens are completed and that means the majority of my work is complete even if it doesn’t look like it.
What I like about the open centered Dresden plate is that it allows for some extra play with your background. The only reason I’d want to leave it open is to show something back there.
You’ll that I’ve reversed my norms on this one too. My Dresden plates are all low volume….the background will not be. It will be two colors. I can’t wait to show you.
Plans
I’ve been swooning over the Dresdens! I used mostly the Soften the Volume fabrics and added in some icy pale pinks and peaches to mix things up a bit. I’m so ready to dig into the background. I hope I can show you that soon. There might end up being a second progress post for this one. 🙂
Can’t wait to see your background fabrics. I love the low volumes.
