New Dilly Dally Quilt Lessons: Flying Geese Time!

We’ve just added three new lessons and three new block patterns to the Dilly Dally Quilt class! That means it’s flying geese time — and I’m so excited to walk you through it.
In this part of the class, I’ll be showing you two different methods for making flying geese units:
- One-at-a-time method – This is a simple and familiar method, similar to snowballing, and great for those who like a little more control over each unit.
- Four-at-a-time method – This time we’re doing it a little differently from how I’ve taught it in the past. We’ll be making the geese slightly oversized, then trimming them down for extra precision. This tweak makes a big difference in helping you get those perfect points!
Whether you’re brand new to flying geese or just looking for a refresher, these lessons should make the process easier and more accurate.

Here are a few of my favorite tips to get your flying geese looking fabulous:
🪶 Use a scant ¼” seam for better accuracy when piecing — it helps prevent your units from ending up too small.
🪶 Starch your fabric before you cut and after each pressing step. It keeps things crisp and flat, which really helps with trimming.
🪶 Take your time trimming — don’t rush this step! It makes a huge difference in how well your blocks go together later.

Fabrics I’m using:
- Blocks – Jellybean Meadow fabric collection – I just grabbed a fat quarter bundle of all (20) fabrics
- Background – Kona Snow
