Chapter 3 of Soulshine Quilt Class

Chapter 3 is Live — Let’s Make the Shine Block
Chapter 3 of the Soulshine Quilt Class is now available, and this is where we begin building one of the two main blocks in the quilt, the Shine Block.
This is the star block of the design, and in this chapter we walk through it step by step so everything feels clear and manageable before you start making multiples.

Lesson 7 — Shine Block Overview
We begin by looking at the full structure of the block and breaking it into its parts. This helps you see how everything fits together before sewing begins. Once you understand the components, the whole process feels much simpler.

Lesson 8 — Inner and Outer Flying Geese
This is the biggest step in the block.
We make both sets of flying geese slightly oversized, then trim them down for accuracy. This gives you clean, consistent star points and makes assembly much easier later. Small adjustment… big payoff.
Lesson 9 — Building the Star Points
Next, we combine the flying geese units to form the star sections of the block. This is where the Shine Block really starts to take shape and you can see the movement of the design coming together.
Lesson 10 — Corner Units
Then we make the corner units. These are simple and quick to construct, and they frame the star beautifully once everything is assembled.
Lesson 11 — Assemble the Shine Block
Finally, we lay out all the pieces and sew the full block together. This is where everything connects and you see the Shine Block finished from start to finish.
How Many Shine Blocks Will You Make?
The number of Shine Blocks depends on your quilt size:
• 60″ × 60″ quilt — 13 Shine blocks
• 60″ × 72″ quilt — 15 Shine blocks
• 72″ × 84″ quilt — 21 Shine blocks
You can make them one at a time or batch them in groups — whatever works best for your sewing rhythm.
This chapter is a big milestone in the Soulshine Quilt. Once you’ve made your first Shine Block, the rest become a smooth and satisfying repeat.
Take your time, enjoy the process, and watch those stars come to life.
