Faefolk Quilt: A Little Quilt Inspiration from the Archives
Every now and then, I like to revisit an older quilt and give it a little attention. There are so many projects that come and go through my sewing room, and sometimes I forget just how much I enjoyed making one until I start looking through the photos again.
Today, we’re pulling out the Faefolk quilt!
Faefolk is one of those quilts that has a lot going on visually, but the piecing itself is wonderfully approachable. It’s full of little fabric moments, repeating shapes, and all that scrappy goodness I love so much.
And if you’ve been looking for a quilt project that lets you play with lots of different fabrics, this might be just the one.

A Little About the Faefolk Quilt
One of my favorite things about Faefolk is how the blocks come together.
The construction uses strip piecing and 9-patch style units, which means you can build up those repeating shapes without having to piece every little square individually.
And you know how much I love a good shortcut that still gives us a beautiful quilt!
There’s something so satisfying about watching the individual units turn into blocks and then seeing all those blocks come together into a finished quilt top.
The design also gives your fabrics plenty of room to shine. You can lean into a coordinated collection or pull from your stash for something a little more scrappy.

Let’s Talk About Fabric
Faefolk is a fun quilt for playing with color.
You can keep your palette soft and gentle, choose something bright and cheerful, or mix prints that you might not ordinarily put together.
I especially love quilts that give you an excuse to pull a whole stack of fabrics onto your cutting table and start arranging them.
And with Faefolk, those different prints become part of the overall design. The repetition helps bring everything together, even when you’ve got quite a few fabrics in the mix.
If you’ve been collecting pretty fabrics and waiting for the right project, this is a good opportunity to put some of them to work.
Want to Make Your Own Faefolk Quilt?
There are two ways to make Faefolk, depending on how you like to learn and sew.
- Make it with the pattern – If you’re comfortable working through a quilt pattern on your own, you can grab the Faefolk Quilt Pattern and sew at your own pace.
- Make it with me in class – If you’d rather have me walk you through the process, the Faefolk Quilt Class takes you through the construction step by step.
We’ll work through the piecing, putting the quilt top together, and the finishing process, with video lessons you can revisit whenever you need them.
You can also access the class through Quilty Club, where you’ll find my growing library of quilting classes, along with a private community of quilters.

An Old Favorite Worth Revisiting
I love going back through older quilts because they remind me how much joy there is in the making.
The fabric choices, the little stacks of blocks, the moments when everything finally starts coming together. Those are the parts of quilting I never get tired of.
And Faefolk has plenty of all three.
If you’ve been looking for something new to sew, maybe this older favorite will give you a little inspiration for your next quilt.

I hope you leave here feeling inspired to make something you love and enjoy every little stitch along the way. ๐
