A Quilt Maker’s Terminology

When I first started quilting back in 2008, there was so much to learn.  I’m still learning, constantly.  There is a never ending well of information to grasp in the quilting world. Learning what all the words in a pattern or blog post mean felt like it would take forever.  I’d read the quilt pattern,…

Monday is all about Fabric #9 – Katarina Roccella prints

I didn’t get much fabric in last week.  It’s been slow in that way. I did however, get a print or two. I’ve got this thing for florals.  It’s pretty serious, florals and me. And this print seriously struck me.  This is the kinda print that has me doing double takes and buckling at the…

Quilt Beginnings – Quote Quilt and all the supplies

Inspiration. It’s a pretty amazing feeling.  I don’t always have it, but when I do it almost feels like my mind is soaring. Ideas.  Feelings.  Excitement. There is usually a beginning. From about this past November – January, I was reading The Lord of the Rings books.  I know, I know.  I used to hate…

Monday is all About Fabric #8 – Blush and Gold

I’m not sporting any new fabric collections today.  Boo!  What I do have is a random mix of fabrics in shades of blush and gold. I actually purchased these fabrics for a quilt I have to make coming up. Metallic gold is one of my favorite colors to use in my quilts. The question today…

How To Piece Like a Rockstar – Part 2 – Make Better Half Square Triangles

This post has been edited to add in this video on 10/12/17.   I want to start this off my saying that you are making a quilt. The little things really don’t matter. Like if your points line up, or if your edges are wobbly, or if you have a pinch or two in your…

I’ve been free motion quilting since 2018 and it h I’ve been free motion quilting since 2018 and it has been the slowest part of the quilting journey for me. It did not come naturally. I practiced through a lot of very ugly stitching before anything started to look the way I imagined it could.I keep seeing comments like “I could never do this,” and I just want to say… I used to think that too. I was you. It really does change if you keep going, even when it feels like it’s not working.Thank you for all the love on this piece this week. It feels like I finally hit a little milestone with my quilting, and that’s a pretty special feeling. ❤️
