Stomping Grounds quilt ( quilt reveal )

Hello, my loves.

There is nothing I like better than a good scrap busting quilt.ย  This is such a quilt even though I didn’t get to use it for that purpose.ย  This was a commissioned quilt for me, but I went ahead and turned it into a pattern for future scrap using purposes.ย  I’ve sent this pattern out to my pattern testers, maybe we’ll get some scrappy versions of it, maybe not.ย  Either way, this quilt came together so quickly.

I made a queen size and had all 56 of my blocks done in a single day.ย  I know I spend many hours of my day making quilts, but I feel like I leisurely work on them.ย  There’s is no enjoyment to me if that something calls for rushing, so I rarely rush anything in my world.ย  Still all blocks were done for this queen size version of Stomping Grounds.

Another note, is that there is no fussing in this quilt pattern (although there are several places to fussy cut).ย  It’s basic square and rectangle shapes, it’s almost therapeutic.ย  So I invite you to dig into your scrap bins and get them used.

I used all Tanya Whelan fabrics for this quilt.ย  You might remember this particular fabric bundle from this post.ย  As much as I LOVE Tanya Whelan florals, this quilt in my personal tastes was a little too pink or sweet.ย  I’d like to have added some low volume prints, but still, I think it’s dreamy.

I free motion quilted with a meander all over this quilt (there is a FMQ meander tutorial coming to the blog tomorrow).

Support a small shop

This sweet shop!ย  Visit HopHop Studios here, specializing in florals.ย  There is also a pretty decent sale section here.ย  If you are in the market for Holiday fabric, there is a pretty good selection of that as well.

Another one of the things I like about this pattern is that you can turn the blocks in any direction and it only adds to the “lots and lots of patchwork” effect.ย  It also makes it a little harder to see what the actual blocks are.

I’m hoping to release this pattern the third or fourth week of November, so be on the lookout for it.
