Anthologie Quilt – Working on Attic Windows – #5

The posts in this series are all part of the pattern, Anthologie.  These are not tutorials or how to videos, but are of me making this quilt.  It’s meant to be similar to a self guided quilt along and hopefully feel like we are making this quilt together (even if you are finding this years later).  Do tag me on Instagram (@southerncharmquilts)!  I’d love to see what you do with it.  🙂

I’m just in LOVE with these blocks.  I never turn blocks on point much, but OH!  I’m not sure why I don’t do it more often.  The effect is so pretty.  We have six blocks of Attic Window to make this round and they are not too small.  They are a manageable decent size and you shouldn’t have to really trim them.  They should come out just right.

Video Summary

In this video, I’ve already chosen my fabrics and I did a little changing up from the way the pattern is written.  I decided I wanted all of my blocks to have the same fabric as their center to keep the aqua color from Inspiration Collage going a bit more subtly throughout the quilt.  I’ll probably do this again in another spot on the quilt, just to have some cohesion with that fabric.

Then, I start organizing all the pieces into blocks.  I don’t go into how to make the blocks since there is a separate tutorial for that part.  I do sew up the blocks into their sections and then we do some quilt building as well.

You can really start to see everything come together.

Omigosh!  This is the point where you can really see it building out.  And it’s so exciting!  I’m still trying to keep myself from redoing the 9-patches though.  I can be quite particular.  Ha!  But still, overall very pleased.

Tag me on Instagram and show me your progress, @southerncharmquilts and use the #anthologiequilt.

Next up is the great big Dresden section!

Happy sewing!

  1. I would like to buy the PDF of Anthologie but it’s not available yet and the pattern is no longer on sale. Will it go back on sale when it becomes available? I have tried repeatedly to add it to a wish list to no avail. Thanks Melanie I look forward to ‘sewing along’.
