Step back often to see the whole quilt at a glance and how the colors and patterns work together.•Spread Out Colors and Patterns: By evenly spreading colors and patterns, ensure no two similar colors or patterns are clustered together. This helps maintain a harmonious and eye-catching layout. Remember to take a step back and view your layout from a distance. This fresh perspective can reveal any areas that might feel too heavy in one color or pattern, helping you to achieve a balanced look. •Snap a Photo: A quick photo of your layout can help you see the overall composition and identify any problem spots.   1. I noticed in the custom dresden plate quilt you showed, how the busy background fabric took some of the “boldness” away from all the plates. I like how you did that. I tend to quilt whisper and solid everything but would like to maybe ease in to more busy prints and backgrounds…it’s out of my comfort zone at the moment.
