What’s Happening Right Now in Quilty Club: Quilt as Desired

If you’ve been curious about what’s happening inside Quilty Club right now, I wanted to share a little update about Quilt as Desired and where we currently are in the class.
Quilt as Desired is a free motion quilting class that focuses on learning how to move a quilt sandwich under the machine with confidence. Instead of rushing toward a finished quilt, we’re spending time practicing different movements, building muscle memory, and getting more comfortable one stitch at a time.
Below, I’ve added a short video so you can see what we’ve been working on so far.

In the video, I’m sharing a look at the first four chapter’s samples we’ve made inside Quilt as Desired. These are practice pieces, not perfection pieces. Each one is about learning how different motions feel under your hands and how your confidence slowly grows with repetition.
Eventually, these samples will come together into a quilt, but that part comes later. The real work right now is simply learning how to guide the fabric and trust your hands.

This or That: Swirl Variations
One of the fun parts of Quilt as Desired has been exploring different swirl styles and noticing how small changes can create very different results.
Here’s a simple question for you.
Which do you prefer?
Hook swirls or stacked swirls?
There’s no right answer here. Some designs feel more natural than others, and noticing what you enjoy stitching is part of finding your rhythm.
Who Quilt as Desired Is Best For
This class is a good fit if any of this sounds familiar.
• You want to learn free motion quilting but feel unsure where to start
• You’ve tried it before and felt frustrated
• You want guided practice without pressure
• You’re okay being bad at something while you learn
• You want encouragement more than rules
You don’t need fancy tools or a perfectly planned quilt. You just need a willingness to show up.
A Note About Getting Started
Free motion quilting can feel awkward at first. That’s normal. Honestly, expecting it to feel clumsy in the beginning helps take the pressure off.
The hardest part is not the stitching. It’s sitting down and starting.
Quilt as Desired is built around that idea. You practice, you repeat, and slowly things begin to feel more natural. Improvement doesn’t happen all at once. It happens quietly, a little at a time.
About the Quilt as Desired Class

Quilt as Desired is a self-paced class. You can start now, join later, or move slowly. All lessons stay available whenever you need them.
We’ll be working through the class over about two months and wrapping up sometime in January, but there’s no requirement to keep up with a schedule.
You can take Quilt as Desired as a standalone class, or access it inside Quilty Club along with all other quilting classes.

There’s Still Time to Join In
If you’ve been watching from the sidelines, there’s still plenty of time to jump in. Whether you’re brand new to free motion quilting or just want more practice, you’re welcome here.
Progress matters more than perfection.
