Today we get to put everything together minus the border (saving that for next week). I love, love, love the big pinwheel in the background. It makes the whole quilt for me.
There was no twirling this week, instead I’m doing lots of loving sighs. It’s the roses, I’m sure. I know I say this everytime, but oh! How I love this one so very much.
I’ll admit to rethinking the red just a bit. I’m wondering if I should have gone gray. Red is not my color, or so my mother always told me when I tried to wear it. Oh well, we are going with it.
If you purchase anything from Havel’s Sewing, be sure to use my coupon ” SouthernCharm7 ” to get $7 off any order of $25 or more.
This Week’s Task
We got four corner blocks to get done and that center! Lots of triangles today. Plus, I’m showing you how to trim down large half square triangles that are too big for your ruler. If you are part of the newsletter, you’ve received the video tutorial. For the rest of you, here is another tutorial that you can see.
For trimming down larger squares you can use a 12.5″ square ruler or just the lines on your cutting mat. I find the ruler easier, but we don’t all have one, so just make do if you need to.

Thoughts about the Leftovers
There will be some pretty significant scraps left over that you could sew together and make more half square triangles with. I always do just that, trim them down to the biggest size I can get them and then store them with my cut square scraps by sizes. You never know when you are going to make a scrap quilt that they’ll come in hand for.
