This Sugar Bear quilt is the work of one of my fav This Sugar Bear quilt is the work of one of my fave quilters who helps so much with my patterns @thequiltdr . I love Lisa’s jewel tone version of #sugarbearquilt , those hedgehogs! I also love how she did the corners of all her blocks. 🥰
🤎
There is a blog post up today about Sugar Bears fabric requirements. Link in profile and stories. If you are signed up for the quilt along (mar 17), you’ll have received an email from me about all this earlier.
A bit of commission work. #scrappy9patchquilt . It A bit of commission work. #scrappy9patchquilt . It was requested that I not use much white or low volume. They have no idea how hard that was for me. 🤣🤎 I would like to make this one again, but in my colors.....

I’m still new with this ruler work. This might b I’m still new with this ruler work. This might be the third quilt I’ve given a go with it. It is painfully slow (or at least on a domestic it is) but it’s hard to not see that it adds so much. This ruler work of mine is by no means perfect, but I definitely see a little growth. I finished a couple days ago and started on the free motion (my fave, swipe to see). I’ve been working on my skills at this for not two years yet, and it fINALLY looks like the clumsy clunky me I have complained about so often has been semi-replaced with a more confident me. This feels so good. 🤎 I’m loving the work on this #sugarbearquilt . 🤎 The only way to this place tho was through, with all the palm face moments, all the annoying mistakes, all the cringeing. I’ve said before that all the “ugly” quilts are so worthwhile. Ha!
🤎
I get a lot of messages and emails about FMQ. I have a small series on the blog (tutorials>FMQ). One day I’ll chat about the ruler work on there, but I just need more practice before I do. Still there are several tutorials if you are interested.
🤎
I have about a 1/4 left of the quilt to finish with the free motion. I’m adding feathers, succulents and elongated curls. I’m enjoying myself and I hope to finish today. Fingers crossed! 🤞🏻
This is the work of the lovely talented @tracylouk This is the work of the lovely talented @tracyloukota . She’s testing #sugarbearquilt for me. 🥰 I just wanted to show you how fun the quilt can look with an emphasis on fussy cutting and with a scrappy LV background.
🤎
The pattern releases 3/8. And the quilt along begins 3/17. The pattern is currently available as a pre-order in paper format.
🤎
Alright, now let’s gush about how cute those fussies are and how Tracy is killing it!! 😍🥰💗🐻🌸👌🏻👏🏻🐻
I have so enjoyed the #anthologieqa . I wanted to I have so enjoyed the #anthologieqa . I wanted to take a moment to thank you all who participated and who made this quilt with me. Your kindness, encouragement and love to myself and others meant so much. Big hugs! 🤎

Most of my weekend was spent working on the quilting for my Sugar Bear. It’s slow going. The ruler work went better Sunday than Saturday. I’ll show more later in stories.

Migration Quilt #5 – Liberty and Gold – Quilt Reveal

Migration in Liberty + Gold It seems I forgot to post about this when I finished it in late January. An easy breezy quilt it was and perfect for taking care of those scraps, which it did. This one has a bit more cohesion to it than some of my prior versions and it’s been all done in Liberty’s Tana Lawn, so it’s slinky and luxey feeling. If you missed my “progress” post on this one, you can find it here. Pattern can be found here Find my other Migration Quilt posts here         About...

LaLa Fancy Quilt #2 – Amber Folk Bundle – Quilt Reveal

LaLa Fancy in Amber Folk I’m thinking this version of LaLa Fancy is my most favorite quilt I’ve ever completed. I can’t normally say that I like all parts of my work and that all the parts came together for me, but I feel exactly that way with this finish. Fabrics, quilting, I love all of it. If you missed my “progress” post on this one, you can find it here. LaLa Fancy Quilt #1 – Pumpkin Parchement Bundle – Quilt Reveal

LaLa Fancy in Pumpkin Parchment I finished my first LaLa Fancy quilt! I think this might be the best quilting I’ve done on a quilt, at least as an all over design. It’s hard to be completely pleased with any quilt, I’m so critical of myself, but I think I really saw some growth with this one and that feels so good to say….finally. Maybe I just finally worked out a design I really like all parts of. Who knows? Keep scrolling, I’ll tell you more about it. If you missed my “progress” post on this one, you...

Little Miss Sawtooth Star Quilt #11 – Turquoise, Yellow and Coral – Quilt Reveal

I’ve just finished up my 11th Little Miss Sawtooth quilt! Whew! I really enjoy making this quilt. I love the flow of the pattern. You make all your star points in the very beginning, so once those are done, it’s just block after block and each one different. I actually have a bit of a surprise coming up for next year. I’ve got a pattern that’s very similar coming, but also not similar. The flow is the same and it’s also a traditional block reconstructed. I’m antsy to show you, but it probably will be February before I...

Para Para Quilt #3 – Spirited Version – Quilt Reveal

I’ll be talking about the Para Para quilt today. This one has sat unfinished since February/March. We had the Para Para quilt along at the beginning of the year and seems like it finished up right around the time Covid began or became widespread. I became involved with other things and the quilt top hung over a clothes hanger and dangled from a shelf staring at me all year long. I did feel guilty. I stared back at it often enough, and had it in plans to finish many times. When we started the Anthologie quilt along a...

Log Cabin Quilt – Peach + Navy – The Rescue Quilts #15 – Quilt Reveal

It’s been a while since I’ve completed a rescue quilt, but today I have a fairly small Log Cabin quilt that I just completed last week. Not the most precious I’ve done, but I loved the bold, contrasting design and colors. Let’s dig in!   The Rescue Quilt series is about finishing up quilt tops that were never completed.   The goal is to honor the quilt maker who made the quilt top by completing their project, to not waste good craftsmanship (usually done by hand), to ogle long ago yummy fabrics, and to breathe in a little old...

Morning Sun Quilt #3 – Peach + Gold Version – Quilt Reveal

Today I’m showing off my latest Morning Sun quilt and I am ridiculously excited over it. Quilt Reveal – A Dresden Quilt #8 – Pink + Peach Combo

‘   Va va voom…. well, that’s how this quilt makes me feel. Like she’s a whole lotta woman and too much for me to be lugging around especially in the weather we’ve been having. I’m talking about my finished A Dresden quilt today. A king size! Every single part of her took forever as I’m sure you can imagine. Now that she’s finished it feels like I’ve ran a marathon (the world’s slowest) and I’ve just crossed the finish line and want to do absolutely nothing…, but snuggle under her. If you missed my “progress” post on this...

Quilt Reveal – Moon Goddess #3 – The Golden Bronze and Blue one

Quilt Reveal – Little Miss Sawtooth #10 – Turquoise and Light Orange

I haven’t made a Little Miss quilt since this past January, so it has been awhile.  I forgot how pleasing this one is to make.  Unlike most quilts, I make this pattern one block at a time and that is sometimes just the way you want to work.  The pattern starts out with making all the star points in the beginning and then you move into block by block. Quilt Reveal – Anthologie #2 – The Butterfly Version

The entirety of the summer I’ve been working on this quilt.  I’m both pleased and sad to be finished with it.  I almost always enjoy working on my quilts, but this one was particularly fun.  I like these “quilt-along” way of making quilts.  I like sampler quilts!  You start out with a big fat stack of fat quarters and low volumes and just chip away at it until you get a finished quilt. For the past two weeks (almost every day), I’ve posted the videos I made while I worked on this quilt.  This was a new feature...

Good Stitches created by Rachel Hauser of Stitched in Color.  Each month a different member of our circle is lead quilter.  Lead quilter decides quilt pattern, size, colors, all the details and members of our circle send blocks to the lead quilter.  The lead quilter finishes the quilt and gives it to a charity or person of their choosing in need. Quilt Reveal – Moon Goddess #2 – Wildflower Fields Bundle

I can’t think of a finish this year that I enjoyed more than this one.  This was so much fun.  A sharp contrast to my last Moon Goddess when I was being all particular about my decisions.  I felt so good using these fabrics.  They were scrumptious and yummy and made the whole thing enjoyable. My Moon Goddess quilt pattern released last week.  It’s naturally scrappy, so you won’t even have to work for it.  I made the twin size this time around and I believe it had like 22 fat quarters for the foreground, so yeah, naturally...

May 13, 2020 English Paper Piecing•Quilt Reveal

Quilt Reveal – Oh Honey Quilt

This is my first large finish with anything to do with English paper piecing.  And I’m feeling a sense of accomplishment, nevermind that it’s only partially EPP.  It’s still a giant finish for me and one I’m pleased to have completed. I designed this quilt last Fall in Illustrator and as always, pined away on other projects before I could get to it. I’ve got more ideas that I have time to finish, as we all do.  It all started with a vintage quilt (as so many of my patterns do) and I saw that diamond or petal...

Quilt Reveal – Moon Goddess

Sorry for the huge delay in posting about this quilt.  I finished it about  a month or so ago.  You remember it, don’t you?  From this progress post.  It’s been quilted and finished up since then. This was my final project as a Michael Miller ambassador in February.  The quilt is called Moon Goddess.  I designed it specifically to play with half rectangles and had intended it to coincide with the HRT ruler debut.  Covid changed all those plans.  The ruler was delayed by more than two months and I wanted to hold off on the pattern until...

Quilt Reveal – Trippy Quilt #4 – Green and Orange and a Hint of Silver

The Rescue Quilts – #12 – Grandmother’s Diamond Flower Garden – The one with all the green and wovens

The Rescue Quilt series is about finishing up quilt tops that were never completed and then remaking the pattern.  Sometimes I find easier / modern ways to make the quilt pattern, and sometimes I change up the pattern a bit to freshen things up.  Other times I just finish the rescue quilt and end the project there. The goal is to honor the quilt maker who made the quilt top by completing their project, to not waste good craftsmanship (usually done by hand), to ogle long ago yummy fabrics, and to breathe in a little old inspiration and make...
