Quilting Experiments + Falling Slowly Quilt #2 (quilt reveal)

I made another Falling Slowly quilt.  It’s one of my favorites, because the ease of which it comes together.  Once everything is cut, there is just a massive chain piecing session.  I zone out with earbuds in my ear and before I realize it, all the blocks are ready for the design wall.

Forgive my floors.  We pulled out that carpet and are in the process of laying tile.  It’s a bedroom off my studio that I hope to have a longarm machine soon (fingers crossed).

You know how I always quilt in a meander 98% of the time.  Well, and I mentioned this in my last newsletter, I gave one of Angela Walter’s tutorials a try.  It didn’t look overly complicated and it was still an all over design.  You can find her tutorial here.  Also, I do realize that I altered the design quite a bit.  Mine is huge, but I don’t like over complicating the quilting part of quilt making.  I’m usually ready to be finished when I’ve come that far with a quilt.  I’m quite pleased with it and will definitely be using it for more quilts.

Angela Walters has lots of classes on quilting here.  Or watch her Midnight Quilt show here.  Y’all she is seriously funny!  You’ll learn something and be quite entertained while doing so.

Finished Pictures

I am just in love with this color palette.  Little darker than I’ve been into lately, but I’m hoping to start going down a little darker path (for the color part anyway.  LVs going nowhere).

Most of all these fabrics are Art Gallery prints.  I’ll link up to a few of them.

That corally orange is this print called Vie de Boheme in sunset by Pat Bravo.  You might remember my post on this one coming in here.

There are several turquoises:  Swifting Flora, Butterfly Bliss, and Lavish Mother’s garden.

The low volumes are a little from everywhere, but more details on those here.

The backing has three different fabrics featured.  The turquoise is Stellar Skylight.  I also used a small amount of these bees, but in the peach color (I’ve been hoarding these because the peach color I used is no longer available).  And lastly, Confetti Honeycomb available here.

I just finished reading “The Alchemist“.  It was recommended to me by one of the BAM sales associates.  It was a quick read and about all things being one and connected as told by a young boy.  Very dreamy and positive.  It feels good to be reading again!  I had taken a break for half the year and have missed it.

If you are into this pattern, it is one of my patterns that I have for sale.  You can purchase it here.  I also sell this quilt in custom orders that you can get more details on here.

Oh, one last thing!  I’ve been asked several times lately if I’d be willing to sell scrap fabrics and I do have quite a bit that would probably feel pretty good to unload.  If you are interested in purchasing a scrap bundle, you can view the details here.
