Quilt Reveal – Hexagon #4 + Granny Chic style + Quilt Kit chatter

And again…… I have decided that my favorite part of quilt making is choosing and cutting the fabrics. Is that weird?  That I enjoy cutting fabrics. Sometimes I will spend near two hours standing at my cutting table simply cutting up the pieces for a quilt top. But I like it. I’m thinking that it’s…

Quilt Reveal – swoon #3 + Craftsy Classes and Reviews

Hey, hey! I’m feeling really irritated today.  I did something really dumb.  It is almost painful just to type this sentence.  I had my cat in my lap, sitting at my computer answering emails.  There was a loud noise, the cat jumped and spilled my tea all over my laptop.  So….. it still works, which…

Yoga and the turquoise and gold orange peel quilt

Hiya! You may notice that I do quite a bit of quiltmaking.  And that means many hours sitting at my machine and many hours of my neck bent in the same position.  I tell you this little personal story in case you too have been suffering as I have. I have had many knots at…

Quilt Reveal – hexagon quilt #3

A little history The hexagon quilt goes by many names throughout history:  Honeycomb, Mosaic and sometimes Six Sided Patchwork.  It’s beginnings were random layouts without too much attempt at color or design. The first hexagon quilt pattern was published in 1830 in The Godey’s Ladies Book according to WomenFolk.com.  It was popular because a…

Quilt Reveal – Cara’s Quilt – another Tiny Patch Quilt

Hey, hey! Have you ever been given a quilt of a gift? I have only been given one, and it was my great grandmother’s.  My heart sung that day. I grew up in a house where there were no quilts.  I remember them at my grandparent’s house, but none lived with us.  These days, I…

Quilt Reveal – Tiny patch quilt

The definition of a scrap quilt – a quilt created out of several pieces of various fabrics, frequently these pieces are extra pieces of fabric from past quilting projects.   I finished this quilt this weekend. You might remember me discussing this quilt and my scrap fabric storing system.  If not, that post is here and…

There are some projects that give me the same gidd There are some projects that give me the same giddy, obsessive feeling I had when I first discovered patchwork. And this mini quilt wall is doing it for me.

I vividly remember 2008, sitting on Google and finding all these blogs with pictures of patchwork. Any patchwork at all. I was hit with this massive need to cut it all up and sew it all back together.

And then, every once in a while, boom. A new quilty project comes along and you get that same loving rush of excitement all over again. I’m always chasing those old feelings. 🩷

I always love this part. The sewing is done, the quilting is done, and all that's left is getting it up on the wall.

For this one, I used two hanging loops instead of the three I used on my sample. Both work great, but if you're curious, the third loop does a better job of hiding the pushpin. Little details like that always seem to matter more to me after the quilt is finished 😅

In this final chapter, we're adding fabric hanging loops, inserting the dowel, and getting the mini quilt up on the wall. It's a short chapter, but it's the one that takes the project from finished quilt to finished display.
