The Morning Sun Quilt Along – Month 4

I looooooooovvvvve this quilt.  Really, really.  I’m also loving have to do just one pattern a month.  That really takes the pressure off of always hurrying around and making stuff.  This quilt along is so chill.

This is our 4th pattern.  We are adding the little arrowheads between the rows, plus stitching all the rows together for four big chunks of this quilt.

This Month

We only have to make four of these simple arrowheads this month and as I mentioned above, sew a few rows together too.

What I like this month:

I like that I made my arrowheads match my geese near the Dresden plate.  I think it makes this have a more striking look.  I rarely think so far ahead, but this time….

What I don’t like this month:

With so many triangles on each of these rows, things can get a bit wobbly.  I have this video that details sewing rows together and how and where to pin.  It doesn’t pertain to this quilt along, but I think it can be helpful for making things fit properly.  First, find the center of each row, pin the two centers together, then pin the two row’s ends together.  Then, just place pins between the pins.  This will keep things the correct size.

Sometimes you can just adjust a little with the fabric and still get things where they need to be.  This will also help for not losing the points (especially on the flying geese).  I lost one or two points and I was annoyed with myself.  If I’d been paying better attention, I could have flipped that row over and sewn on top of the flying geese, adjusted a bit more and made sure this didn’t happen.
