Two Finished Dilly Dally Quilt Tops

Today I’m sharing two finished Dilly Dally quilt tops, each with its own vibe, fabric choices, and experience behind it. This pattern is a big one, and honestly, it’s a joy to slowly stitch your way through. With 49 unique blocks and five borders, it’s a sampler-style quilt that really lets you stretch your creativity.
Whether you love the soft, tonal feel of basics or the playful look of fussy-cut florals, these two versions show how versatile Dilly Dally can be.
🌸 Dilly Dally Quilt in Tiny Terrazzo + Scrappy Background
This version was made with Tiny Terrazzo fabrics as the foreground, and they shine! Because this is a tonal and basics collection, the fabrics have that lovely texture and depth without taking attention away from the block design. It really makes each block pop, even though the colors are soft and pastel.
For the background, I went full scrappy. The pattern calls for 4 ½ yards of background fabric, but instead of using one single fabric, I pulled together enough low-volume prints from my stash to make up the yardage. You may want to have a little extra on hand when going the scrappy route, but I love the depth it added to the quilt.
- Foreground: Tiny Terrazzo
- Borders: Clover fabric collection
- Background: Milkland fabrics, scrappy low volumes
This quilt has a soft, subtle vibe that still gives you lots of visual interest. The tonal fabrics let the quilt design shine, and the scrappy background adds texture without overwhelming the blocks.
🍬 Dilly Dally Quilt in Jelly Bean Meadow (Fussy Cutting Fun!)
The second version is made entirely with my Jelly Bean Meadow fabric collection, and it was so much fun to make. One of the best parts of this quilt was getting to fussy cut the butterflies, flowers, and fun little motifs throughout the blocks. It added a really personal, whimsical touch to the quilt that made the whole process even more enjoyable.
For the background, I used Kona Snow, and for the borders, I went with Pure Ginger, which gives just enough contrast without being overpowering. I also used Tiny Terrazzo in the foreground pieces of the borders and for the cornerstones.
- Foreground: Jelly Bean Meadow fabrics
- Background: Kona Snow
- Borders: Pure Ginger + Tiny Terrazzo accents
This version feels happy and playful. Perfect if you love fussy cutting and want a quilt that really showcases those sweet little fabric moments.
