In the Holding Light Mini Quilt Class, Chapter 2 is where everything starts to come to life. This part of the process is all about building your mini quilt top, piece by piece, until you can finally see the design take shape.
If you’ve made it through Chapter 1, you’re ready for the fun part, sewing.

Swayful Quilty Class – BEGINS JUNE 29
A new quilt is beginning inside Quilty Class. Swayful features a woven knot design created from rotating blocks and simple snowball construction. The pattern is fat quarter friendly for the foreground fabrics and includes a unique border that carries the movement all the way to the edges of the quilt.
We’ll begin on June 29 and work through the quilt top together step-by-step as new lessons are released.

Building the Flower Center
We begin by creating the center of the flower.
This step lays the foundation for the entire quilt, and it’s where you start to see your fabric choices come together. The shapes are simple, but they work together to create a soft, structured look that gives the quilt its character.
Take your time here, accuracy matters, especially in a smaller quilt where every detail is more visible.
Adding the Leaves and Stem
Next, we move into the leaves and stem.
This is where the design really starts to feel complete. The addition of these pieces brings balance to the quilt and adds a bit more movement to the overall layout.
You’ll continue using simple piecing techniques, just building on what you’ve already done in the flower center.
Completing the Flower and Adding Borders
In the final lesson of this chapter, we complete the flower and add the borders.
This step frames your design and gives your mini quilt its finished shape. Once the borders are added, your quilt top is complete and ready for the next stage.
It’s always a satisfying moment to see everything come together at this point.
