Holding Light Mini Quilt Class: Chapter 1 — Getting Started

The Holding Light Mini Quilt Class begins with a simple and approachable first chapter designed to get you set up for success. In Chapter 1 — Getting Started, we walk through everything you need before you begin sewing so you can move forward with confidence and clarity.
This first chapter is all about easing into the project. Whether you are new to Quilty Class or just want a smooth start, these lessons will help you feel comfortable, organized, and ready to begin.
What’s Included in Chapter 1
In this chapter, we take things step by step so nothing feels overwhelming.
We begin with a welcome lesson where I walk you through what we will be making together and what you can expect from the class. From there, we move into a quick guide on using Quilty Class so you can easily navigate lessons, downloads, and your dashboard.
Next, we download and walk through the pattern together. This is one of the most important parts, because once you understand the pattern, everything else becomes much easier.

Choosing Your Fabrics
One of my favorite parts of this chapter is choosing fabrics.
We will talk about how to select fabrics that give you good contrast between your background and your flower so your design really stands out. This is a small quilt, so a few thoughtful choices here make a big difference in the final result.
You will also have access to a fabric requirements guide to help you pull everything together, whether you are working from your stash or selecting something new.

Preparing and Organizing Your Pieces
Before we begin sewing, we will take a little time to prepare and organize your pieces.
This step keeps everything simple as you move through the quilt. Even though this is a mini quilt, having your pieces sorted and ready makes the process feel smooth and enjoyable instead of rushed or confusing.
A Simple Start
Chapter 1 of the Holding Light Mini Quilt Class is all about setting the tone for the rest of the project. By the end of these lessons, you will feel ready to begin sewing with everything in place.

This is the first step in creating a mini quilt you can finish and hang, and I think you are going to love how approachable this process feels.
Happening Now
Swayful Quilty Class – BEGINS JUNE 29
A new quilt is beginning inside Quilty Class. Swayful features a woven knot design created from rotating blocks and simple snowball construction. The pattern is fat quarter friendly for the foreground fabrics and includes a unique border that carries the movement all the way to the edges of the quilt.
We’ll begin on June 29 and work through the quilt top together step-by-step as new lessons are released.
If you’re planning to make quilts with us throughout the year, Quilty Club is the easiest way to follow along and access each class as we go.
