The quilt top is finished, and now it’s time for one of my favorite parts of the process… quilting!
In Chapter 6 of the Swayful Quilty Class, I’ll take you behind the scenes as I prepare my quilt for quilting, share how I plan my quilting design, and walk you through the free motion quilting that brings Swayful to life. Lesson 20: My Quilt Prep Day
Before the quilting begins, every quilt has a prep day.
In this lesson, I’ll bring you along as I choose a backing, cut my backing and batting, and baste the quilt. I’ll also share a few of my favorite tools and products that help make this part of the process easier.
Lesson 21: Planning the Quilting Design
Before I start quilting, I always make a plan.
In this lesson, I’ll sketch the quilting design on my iPad and explain my thought process before the first stitch is made. We’ll look at how the swirl flowers and matchstick quilting work together and why I chose this combination for Swayful.

Lesson 22: Quilting Swayful
Now it’s time to quilt!
Follow along as I stitch swirl flowers across the quilt and add matchstick quilting around the perimeter. You’ll see the quilting come together one section at a time and watch the texture transform the quilt.
Lesson 23: The Finished Quilt
The final lesson is a chance to enjoy the finish.
I’ll show you the completed quilting up close, share a few thoughts from the process, and take one last look at the finished Swayful quilt. It’s the perfect way to wrap up our time together.

Swayful Quilty Class – BEGINS JUNE 29
A new quilt is beginning inside Quilty Class. Swayful features a woven knot design created from rotating blocks and simple snowball construction. The pattern is fat quarter friendly for the foreground fabrics and includes a unique border that carries the movement all the way to the edges of the quilt.
We’ll begin on June 29 and work through the quilt top together step-by-step as new lessons are released.
