Quilting Studio Update: New Quilt Class, Book Progress & Behind the Scenes

There’s always something new happening in the studio, and August is shaping up to be a month filled with sewing.
After spending the last couple of months writing patterns, working on my upcoming book, and designing future projects, I’m finally shifting my focus back to what I love most, time at the sewing machine.
In this month’s studio update, I’m sharing everything that’s happening behind the scenes, including our newest Quilty Class, progress on the Book of Many Mini Quilts, a rewritten pattern, and the latest fabric arrivals.

Swayful Quilt Class is Complete
We officially wrapped up the Swayful Quilt Class, and every lesson is now available.
If you’ve been waiting until the entire class was finished before jumping in, now is the perfect time. We’ll walk through the quilt from start to finish, including the free-motion quilting designs I used on my quilt.

Our Next Quilt Class: Light in the Dark
Beginning August 15, we’ll start making the Light in the Dark Mini Quilt together.
One thing I’m especially excited to share is my favorite method for making half rectangle triangles. I’ve been using it for about a year now, and it has completely changed how I make them. If you’ve struggled with half rectangle triangles in the past, I think you’re going to love this technique.
We’ll piece the quilt together, quilt it, and enjoy another relaxing mini quilt project.

Book of Many Mini Quilts
One of the most exciting moments this month was receiving my first sample copy of the Book of Many Mini Quilts.
This isn’t the finished version yet. It still has placeholder photos and isn’t the final cover, but finally holding the book in my hands made the project feel very real.
I still have six mini quilts left to make, and I’m hoping to begin a tester call later this month before releasing the book this fall.

Lulu Louise Returns
I’ve also been revisiting one of my older patterns.
Lulu Louise, originally published in A Life with Quilts, has been completely rewritten.
The new version includes three sizes and uses strip piecing instead of individual squares, making the quilt much faster and more efficient to sew.
I’m making the updated version with my upcoming Happy Home fabric collection, and I already have everything cut and ready to sew.

August is All About Sewing
After months of pattern writing and computer work, August is finally becoming my sewing month.
Between finishing the remaining mini quilts, sewing Lulu Louise, filming new Quilt Class lessons, and preparing future patterns, there’s no shortage of projects waiting beside my sewing machine.
Fabric Update

Must Have Flowers
Must Have Flowers has officially arrived!
We’re currently shipping pre-orders, and while most of the collection was spoken for during pre-order, we still have a limited number of bundles and yardage available.
This has become one of my favorite fabric collections I’ve ever designed. The colors feel bright, cheerful, and exactly like summer.

Happy Home
We’re also getting closer to the arrival of Happy Home.
Pre-orders remain open through the end of August, and this is the collection I’m using for the updated Lulu Louise quilt.

Thanks so much for spending a little time with me in the studio. I always enjoy sharing what I’m working on, and I can’t wait to show you everything that’s coming over the next few months.
