LaLa Fancy Quilt #2 – Amber Folk Bundle – Quilt Reveal

LaLa Fancy in Amber Folk

I’m thinking this version of LaLa Fancy is my most favorite quilt I’ve ever completed. I can’t normally say that I like all parts of my work and that all the parts came together for me, but I feel exactly that way with this finish. Fabrics, quilting, I love all of it.

If you missed my “progress” post on this one, you can find it here.

About the Quilt

I was planning on doing something else with the quilting, but on my practice pieces, I could never get anything I tried quite right, so I went back to this succulent design that I did on my last LaLa quilt. I figured I could use the practice. I’ll put up a tutorial for it next week.

I think this design works even better for solids, most designs do, you can see it much better.

I mentioned this in my last post, but the quilt pattern is written fat quarter friendly, but also yardage friendly where you can just use 5 different fabrics. I really liked this effect.

More

I used the Whatnot backing again on this quilt, but in the gold instead of the peach this time. It’s sateen and it’s slinky and has this great weight to it. I’m still in love with sateen wide back fabrics. I’ve heard from a few quilters that the sateen tend to snag some, but I haven’t experienced any of that. The silkiness is amazing!

I hand bound this time again with the chunky stitch. In an effort to get completed in the timeframe I set for myself, I ended up spending 7 straight hours on the sofa to get this done. I do not recommend going at it all at once this way.

I’m trying really hard not to start another LaLa Fancy quilt. I have a quilt that I need to be working on for a gift due soon, but am itching to try another one of these in some of the new fabrics I’ve gotten in stock recently, like Homebody, or Rise. Time will tell, I guess.
