Well, I didn’t get them out by Christmas as I hoped, but no matter. I promise it wasn’t for lack of working on them, but shipping to and from Alabama to Oregon (to be longarmed) and back again took longer than we anticipated. As a reminder, these are the three quilts that we (yes, WE) made for Rachelle and her family who lost their homes in the Paradise, CA fires back in November. Here is post #1 and post #2 if you haven’t read them yet. Product Spotlight 20 fat quarters (18 x 22) from the Sun Kissed...

This whole project has just filled me with such warmth and I keep thinking what a perfect time of year for this to fall on. If you are lost with today’s topic, please read this post first. I asked you to send quilt blocks for Rachelle Sheer and her family (who lost their home in the Paradise, CA fire) so that I could make them a quilt. Your response was overwhelming. I had no idea you’d give quite so much or that we’d end up making not one throw quilt, but a queen quilt, a toddler quilt and...
Hello, hello. I hope your holiday week was as lovely as can be. Instead of the usual Monday is All About Fabric post, I’ll be sharing my year in review. I did this last year too. It’s good to look back and remember all that we accomplished, I think. I know I like to remember! Missing from this list is all the commissioned wedding and memory quilts. I don’t take pictures of them and I never post them on the blog, so I’m not including them here. Enough rambling, let’s get going. This is going to be...
While this wasn’t the quickest and it is the third time I’ve made this quilt and in the midst I always think I’ll never finish, I’m finding this one to be the most refreshing one I’ve made. I’m sure it has to do with the oranges and corals and peaches, but oh! I’m feeling such joy over it! Maybe has something to do too with the longarm quilting that was done on it too (Thank you, Tracy!) and the fact that this quilt is mine. I’m not gifting it to someone else, I’m not saying goodbye. It doesn’t...

I hope that you are not getting tired of seeing me make this quilt. I’m pretty much making one every other month now. This was a customer requested quilt in blues and greens and low volumes as requested. The best part about this quilt is with the exception of the large low volume squares every single bit of this quilt top was made from my scrap baskets and boxes. Perusing through that part of my stash is my absolute favorite! I’ve made this quilt so many times now, that I don’t even need to pull...
Hi, friends! I’m excited about this post! I’ve been waiting to do it and I want to do it right. I’m going to go through each month and have a look at what I was doing, what I made and all the goings on. At the very end there is a list of all the books I read (this was requested). We will do goals in January. Things are too swamped right now to even write those down. I do want to take a minute and tell you, my lovely readers, how much you mean to me, how much...
It’s been a tough day. It’s been a tough week. I’m ready to be back in the swing of usual habits and routines. Pining for that in all truthfulness. I think we all know that there are some quilts that we begin that we don’t at all feel bad to let languish untouched for months/years/forever and then there are quilts that we will come across as we are tidying up and feel a massive pang of guilt over. My Trip Around the World quilt is such a quilt. I always felt bad to come across this one with...
This is Rachelle Sheer and her family. Rachelle is a brand new quilter and has been working on the Little Miss Sawtooth quilt along. She actually had all of her blocks completed before her house and all her belongings were destroyed in the fires last week in Paradise, CA. You can read Rachelle’s story in her own words on her facebook page here. They are currently living in a camper at a campground and have been completely devastated, underinsured and denied FEMA relief (though she has appealed that). Edited: Thank you for all your amazing help with this! ...
