LaLa Fancy #2 – In Amber Folk Bundle – In Progress

I mentioned before that when I was writing LaLa Fancy, I decided to write it fat quarter friendly, but also write it using only 5 fabrics in yardage. Before Christmas, I set to work making this second version of the quilt using only the 5 fabrics: Raw Gold, Tumeric, Peach Sherbet, Georgia Peach and…

LaLa Fancy Quilt #1 – Pumpkin Parchement Bundle – Quilt Reveal

LaLa Fancy in Pumpkin Parchment I finished my first LaLa Fancy quilt! I think this might be the best quilting I’ve done on a quilt, at least as an all over design. It’s hard to be completely pleased with any quilt, I’m so critical of myself, but I think I really saw some growth…

A few photos from the final chapter 💛 I always lo A few photos from the final chapter 💛

I always love this part. The sewing is done, the quilting is done, and all that's left is getting it up on the wall.

For this one, I used two hanging loops instead of the three I used on my sample. Both work great, but if you're curious, the third loop does a better job of hiding the pushpin. Little details like that always seem to matter more to me after the quilt is finished 😅

In this final chapter, we're adding fabric hanging loops, inserting the dowel, and getting the mini quilt up on the wall. It's a short chapter, but it's the one that takes the project from finished quilt to finished display.

I finally got the Dresden attached, and seeing it sitting on that quilted background made me ridiculously happy. All those little blades, all that straight line quilting, and now it actually looks like the quilt I’ve been seeing in my head.
I went with the traditional method on this one, top stitching around the edges and stitching in the ditch between the blades. It takes a little more stopping and starting, but I really love the definition it gives the Dresden.
And yes, I definitely spent some time just standing there looking at it before moving on 😅

In this chapter, we’re attaching the Dresden plate and exploring two different quilting options. You can choose a traditional approach with top stitching and stitch-in-the-ditch quilting, or a free motion method using flowing S-curves to secure the plate.
