Quilt Reveal – The Meander Hexie Quilt

You already know how much I love Heather Ross fabrics. I have quite a bit.  I have quite a bit of oldies.  I only like to use smidgeons of it, because….. Well, I like to look at it on top of the dresser that holds my stash.  It sits atop on a pedestal begging me…

Monday is all About Fabric #10 – Random Prints from Art Gallery Fabrics

I think you know by now that I’m pretty smitten with Art Gallery Fabrics.  This is my 10th Monday Fabric post and I’ve featured Art Gallery in at least 3 of those. So yeah…..smitten. I like the drape of their fabric, the thin, silkiness that it has.  Their catch phrase is “Feel the Difference” after…

Quilt Reveal – My Eowyn Quilt is Finished + thoughts on hand quilting

I’m pretty smitten about this quilt.  When I discussed it in my previous post, I was talking about trying hand quilting.   I decided to machine quilt first and then add the hand quilting.  This might have been a little backwards to the correct way of doing this, BUT it really was what and how…

A Quilt Maker’s Terminology

When I first started quilting back in 2008, there was so much to learn.  I’m still learning, constantly.  There is a never ending well of information to grasp in the quilting world. Learning what all the words in a pattern or blog post mean felt like it would take forever.  I’d read the quilt pattern,…

Monday is all about Fabric #9 – Katarina Roccella prints

I didn’t get much fabric in last week.  It’s been slow in that way. I did however, get a print or two. I’ve got this thing for florals.  It’s pretty serious, florals and me. And this print seriously struck me.  This is the kinda print that has me doing double takes and buckling at the…

Quilt Beginnings – Quote Quilt and all the supplies

Inspiration. It’s a pretty amazing feeling.  I don’t always have it, but when I do it almost feels like my mind is soaring. Ideas.  Feelings.  Excitement. There is usually a beginning. From about this past November – January, I was reading The Lord of the Rings books.  I know, I know.  I used to hate…

This chapter focuses on organic and curved movemen This chapter focuses on organic and curved movement, where the goal is less about perfection and more about flow. Paisley, toothpaste swirls, organic squiggle lines, and S-curves all ask for a slightly different kind of attention, but together they build a really solid foundation for all-over quilting. This has been one of my favorite chapters to stitch. 👏 I really enjoyed this one.quiltyclass.com

Just work through the lessons. We will make some yuck stitches and that is OKAY! In Chapter 3, we work on three designs that are id In Chapter 3, we work on three designs that are ideal for borders and sashing:Swirls in a borderSwirls are a classic FMQ design, but they are not the easiest to master. When I first started quilting, my swirls were always a little too pointy or just kind of strange looking. Honestly, mine still sometimes come out a little funky. That’s okay. We stitch anyway and keep building that rounded movement.Ribbon candyRibbon candy is beautiful and traditional, but let’s just say it can feel a bit hard. We try a looser approach too, and I show you a version I used in the borders of my Dilly Dally quilt that I absolutely love.Wishbone loopsWishbones are a personal favorite. I usually quilt them as a filler, especially inside flower centers. In this chapter, we take that familiar design and try it in a border space to give it a new role.Join in at Quilty Club - http://www.quiltyclub.com/
