Sassy Granny Quilt #2 – The one for my grandbaby – Quilt Reveal

Sassy Granny Quilt

I really love this quilt pattern. It’s easy and modern and fun! Plus, anything that let’s me play with colors in that special way always excites me.

I made this one to suit a grandbaby that will be arriving this October. His baby shower was this past weekend and I managed to squeeze this quilt out in a week.

Sassy Granny is a pattern in my book, A Life With Quilts, that you can find here.

All other Sassy Granny Quilts can be found here.

About the Quilt

The pattern in the book only includes one size, so I had to adjust and make only 12 blocks. It ended up being quite a large baby quilt, but that might make it nice as a floormat for baby to lay as well.

I used fabrics from my stash. There’s a few that are still available in my shop, but most came from stash. I absolutely loved those little cheetahs.

I went a smidgen darker on my shades of white background. This is Shortbread from Figo’s Clothwork Solids. I LOVE this color. It’s a VERY pale shade of tan.

The Quilting

This is the second quilt I’ve had the opportunity to quilt up on my new sewing machine. I’m now quilting on a Bernina Q20 sit down longarm. I really wanted to work on my elongated curls in this quilt. They still feel a bit off, but it’s getting better with each go.

I kept the quilting in the foreground of the quilt to a minimum, and just did some ruler work in the ditches and added drapes to all the small square creating this orange peel design.

In the background I worked on those curls and added some pebbles and tried some pointed leaves as well. The pointed leaves are new to me, but I’ll def use those again they were fun and easy.

We will be having quilt alongs for all the quilts in my book in 2022. If you haven’t purchased my book yet, you can do so here.
