It’s time, it’s time!
Today I’m putting Bad Girl out in the world! This one has been a total learning experience for me. This quilt taught me how to make the half rectangle triangle, without it I’d never have known! I looked at a handful of tutorials online and just couldn’t find anything that worked for ME and that I liked doing.
After my two Bad Girl quilts (here’s one and here’s two), I feel like I finally have it! It’s not the easiest shape to work with, and my method may be time consuming, but park yourself somewhere comfy with a small cutting mat in your lap on top of a tray (that’s how I did it), and tune into your favorite Netflix show (I’m bingeing the show “You”) and trim away.
But let’s talk details…..
Fat Quarter (18″ x 22″) Autumn Vibes by Maureen Cracknell – 20 pieces
The Nitty Gritty
Sizes – Comes in four different sizes. Crib – 36×48″, Lap 60×60″, Large Throw 60×72″, and Twin 72×84″.
Techniques Used – How to make precise, two-at-a-time half rectangle triangles and quarter Dresden plates with fusible web applique.
Tutorials – There are video tutorials for the: HRTs, for Dresden making, and for the fusible thread throughout the pattern.
Skill level – Intermediate, but only because it’s a bit of a fussy quilt. I think a confident beginner could get through this if they watched the video tutorials.
Time Involved – I consider this a quilt that you get to know well. It’s not quick and fast, but one you spend some time with. Sometimes those are exactly the kind you want.
Alternate versions – There are two different versions in the pattern. Plus, if you read my post on Monday then you can see there are even more changes that you could make to make the quilt your own.
Supplies – The pattern uses a Dresden template (it’s provided to you), but much easier if you have an actual ruler (find it here if you need one). The applique method I use is fusible thread. I like this method because it reduces bulk. You can always use your favorite applique method though. As will all of my patterns, I recommend that you be you and do your own thing when you want to. A fabric supply list is provided on the pattern page. Click the aqua button below the video to purchase the pattern.
