This first chapter is all about settling in, getting oriented, and feeling confident before any sewing begins. You won’t be cutting or stitching just yet. Instead, we’re easing into the project together so you can understand what we’re making and decide how you want to approach your quilt.

Lesson 1: Welcome to the Soulshine Quilt Class

In this lesson, I introduce the Soulshine Quilt and talk about what you’ll be making. You’ll get a feel for the design, the two blocks that make up the quilt, and the overall vision for the class. It’s a gentle, inspiring start that helps you picture the finished quilt before diving into the details.

Lesson 2: How to Use Quilty Class

Here, I walk you through where everything lives inside Quilty Class. You’ll learn where to find the lessons, how to use the discussion board, and how to share photos of your progress. This lesson is meant to help you feel comfortable navigating the space so you can fully enjoy the community as we sew together.

Lesson 3: Downloading and Understanding the Pattern

In this lesson, you’ll download the Soulshine Quilt pattern and we’ll look through it together. I highlight key sections of the pattern, explain the two block types, and talk about the three quilt sizes. This is also a great time to start thinking about your fabric choices and whether you want to make the scrappy or modern version of Soulshine.

Releasing Chapter 1 now gives you time to explore the class, gather your fabrics, and decide how you’d like to make your quilt before we move into sewing later in February. There’s no rush. You can work through these first lessons at your own pace and use them as a cozy on-ramp to the project.
