October Quilt Room Update: Mini Quilt Book Release, Lulu Louise & What I’m Sewing

October Studio Update: Mini Quilt Book Release, Lulu Louise & What I’m Sewing
There is SO much happening around the quilt room this October, but I have to start with the thing I’ve been waiting all year to say:
The Book of Many Mini Quilts is HERE!
I can finally hold the actual book in my hands, Lulu Louise is under the needle in Quilty Class, there’s a giant new quilt taking shape on my design wall, and we’ve got both new arrivals and returning favorites happening over at Meander + Make.
Here’s a little look at everything I’m working on right now.

New Here?

The Book of Many Mini Quilts Is Here!
After spending most of this year making mini quilts, writing patterns, quilting, photographing, testing, and building an entire mini quilt wall, I finally have the finished book in my hands.
And I am SO happy with how it turned out.
Book of Many Mini Quilts includes 16 mini quilt patterns, and this whole project started because I decided I wanted a gallery wall filled with mini quilts.
I didn’t expect to fall quite so hard for making minis, but here we are.
They’re quick enough that I can piece one, quilt it, and actually FINISH it before my attention starts wandering toward the next project. They’ve also given me so much room to experiment with piecing and free-motion quilting without committing to trying something new across an entire bed quilt.
And now I have a wall full of them!
The official book release is this Friday, and we’re celebrating with a release sale through Sunday. This will be the last chance to grab the book at this discount.

We’re Free-Motion Quilting Lulu Louise
Over at Quilty Class, we’re right in the middle of the Lulu Louise class.
I just finished free-motion quilting the foreground of my quilt, and next we’re moving into the background.
For this version, I’ve been treating the two areas very differently. The foreground is filled with more structured, geometric quilting, while the background will have a looser, doodle-style feel.
But I decided one Lulu Louise wasn’t enough.
I’ve added an entire additional chapter to the class where we’re going to quilt another Lulu Louise together in a completely different style.
I love the idea of taking the same quilt pattern and showing you two completely different approaches to quilting it. There isn’t one “right” way to quilt a quilt, and sometimes seeing more than one possibility makes it much easier to figure out what YOU want to do with yours.

On My Design Wall: Lovey-Dovey
There’s also something brand new growing on my design wall.
Meet Lovey-Dovey.
This is a future quilt pattern that’s still very much in progress, but I’ve finished the star portion of the quilt and couldn’t resist giving you a peek.
And this quilt is BIG.
We’re talking somewhere around 100″ square. So if you’ve been waiting for me to make you a giant quilt, apparently this is the one. 😂
The design combines stars with lots of scrappy piecing, and there’s still plenty more work to do before I can show you the finished thing.
For now, it’s staying right there on my design wall while I keep working through it.
Happy Home Has Arrived
After talking about Happy Home for the past few months, I can finally say that the fabric is HERE and officially in stock.
Happy Home is an 18-piece fabric collection filled with little houses, sweet details, deep greens, pinks, peaches, and all those cozy colors I’ve been sewing with lately.
We also have two coordinating wide backs.
Bundles, individual yardage, and wide backs are available now, and I’ve already made quite a few projects with this collection, including my Lulu Louise quilt and several minis.

Petal Passion Is Coming Back!
And I’ve got one more bit of fabric news.
Petal Passion is coming back!
This collection originally debuted a few years ago, and somehow I only managed to make ONE quilt with it the first time around.
Technically…it’s still a quilt top. 😂
I pulled it back out of my WIP pile for this month’s video. It’s a scrappy quilt from my book Stash Work, and it was so much fun seeing these fabrics again.
Petal Passion returns in January and is available for preorder now with Early Bird pricing.
This time around, we’ve got:
- Bundles
- Individual yardage
- Wide backs
- Quilt kits
I’ve also added a couple of Petal Passion kits that we’ve never offered before, so I’m excited to see these fabrics getting another turn in the quilt room.

That’s October Around the Quilt Room
This month feels like a really nice mix of finishing things and beginning new ones.
The Book of Many Mini Quilts is finally finished and in my hands. Lulu Louise is under the needle. Lovey-Dovey is growing on the design wall. Happy Home has arrived. And an old favorite, Petal Passion, is making its way back to us.
Basically, there’s fabric and quilts everywhere around here, which is exactly how I like it.
Now tell me what’s happening on YOUR sewing table this October. Are you piecing something new, working your way through the quilting, pulling out an old WIP, or already starting on holiday projects?

I hope you leave here feeling inspired to make something you love and enjoy every little stitch along the way. 💕
