We are slowing things down this week with some hand sewing, or not.ย  Just whatever you prefer is fine.ย  There was a time when I could not ever see myself hand sewing anything, but then I gave it a go and found it surprisingly relaxing.

I hope you are well!ย  It’s been raining here for days on end and I’d really like to see the sun, but I’m sure it’s coming soon.ย  Anyway, enough chitter chatter, let’s dig in.

This Week’s Task

This week, we’ll be working on section #3, the Sweet Spot blocks.ย  There are 8 of these blocks.ย  They are a very simple larger 4-patch block with a hand or machine appliqued circle in their center.ย  They rotate around the quilt in alternating directions.

Tips

  • The pattern goes into all my favorite hand applique and machine applique supplies, so I won’t go into that here.ย  I do have a page in the shop dedicated to it here though.
  • The pattern details how to get perfect round circles using cardboard and aluminum foil, but if you have a preferred way, I say go for it and don’t let me box you into my favorite methods.ย  I do use the aluminum foil method for a lot of different round shapes.
  • There is no need to cut the fabric of for your applique into a circle unless you prefer needle turn applique.
  • Slow down.ย  That’s kind of the point.

Fabrics I’m using

I’m using Art Gallery Fabrics Spirited fabrics and Pure solid Macademia for my background.

I hand sewed my Sweet Spot blocks just the other night while watching television on the sofa in the evening.ย  We’ve been bingeing The Outsider and it’s a bit of a thriller.ย  Whether you hand sew or machine sew, I hope you enjoy it.ย  I’m loving watching the progress happening with your Para Para over on Insta.ย  It’s so fun to see it in so many different colors and fabrics.

Have a good weekend.
