A Pale Dresden Quilt – #7 – Quilt Reveal

A Pale Dresden Quilt – #7 – Quilt Reveal

I am thrilled to have my seventh Dresden plate quilt finished at last!  This time super pale!  I used fabrics from this post, plus a whole bunch of low volume squares from my stash. Just before making this one I designed my soon to come latest quilt pattern called Bad Girl.  I can’t wait to…

The Basketweave Quilt – Quilt Reveal

I got to playing around with my scraps and a new Basketweave quilt is what became of that time. This is my second Basketweave, the first precedes the blog, but it wasn’t pretty.  This one is pretty, but something is still not right. Apparently, I didn’t care.  As you can see I finished it.  But…

My start with quilts + A Dresden Quilt #4 – ( quilt reveal )

You know I’ve been working on this quilt longer than I normally work on a quilt.  I don’t consider myself a fast worker, but I’m definitely steady.  I work at quilts on the daily.  It’s prolific for me.  A daily ritual that lasts most of the day.  I took hand quilting with me on…

Orange Peel Quilt #7 ( Quilt Reveal )

It feels like I’ve been working on this quilt for weeks.  Maybe I actually have been.  I posted some progress pics and a new interfacing source here last week. The steps on this quilt are a little long and repetitive so I usually break this one down into, cut a few, sew a few, cut…

Quilt Reveal – Tiny Patch Quilt #3 – Take that, 4.5″ scrap bin!

Quilt Reveal – Tiny Patch Quilt #3 – Take that, 4.5″ scrap bin!

One way that I store scraps is by squares.  I have a bin for each different size from 2″ – 7″.  When one bin gets full, it’s time to do something with them.  For me, the easiest and most surest way to completely wipe that bin out is just by making a simple patchwork quilt….

Quilt Reveal – Flying Home Quilt

I was participating in a fabric stack challenge over at Stitched in Color, and True Blue was the very first stack.  As soon as I took a photo of that stack I knew I couldn’t just put it all back in my stash.  I HAD to use it.  And since that very next week, I…

There are some projects that give me the same gidd There are some projects that give me the same giddy, obsessive feeling I had when I first discovered patchwork. And this mini quilt wall is doing it for me.

I vividly remember 2008, sitting on Google and finding all these blogs with pictures of patchwork. Any patchwork at all. I was hit with this massive need to cut it all up and sew it all back together.

And then, every once in a while, boom. A new quilty project comes along and you get that same loving rush of excitement all over again. I’m always chasing those old feelings. 🩷

A few photos from the final chapter 💛 I always lo A few photos from the final chapter 💛

I always love this part. The sewing is done, the quilting is done, and all that's left is getting it up on the wall.

For this one, I used two hanging loops instead of the three I used on my sample. Both work great, but if you're curious, the third loop does a better job of hiding the pushpin. Little details like that always seem to matter more to me after the quilt is finished 😅

Chapter 6 of the Morning Rising Mini Quilt Class i Chapter 6 of the Morning Rising Mini Quilt Class is now available ✂️

In this final chapter, we're adding fabric hanging loops, inserting the dowel, and getting the mini quilt up on the wall. It's a short chapter, but it's the one that takes the project from finished quilt to finished display.

I finally got the Dresden attached, and seeing it sitting on that quilted background made me ridiculously happy. All those little blades, all that straight line quilting, and now it actually looks like the quilt I’ve been seeing in my head.
I went with the traditional method on this one, top stitching around the edges and stitching in the ditch between the blades. It takes a little more stopping and starting, but I really love the definition it gives the Dresden.
And yes, I definitely spent some time just standing there looking at it before moving on 😅
