Morning Rising Mini Quilt Class Begins May 15

The Morning Rising Mini Quilt Class begins May 15, and I’m so excited to finally share this new mini quilt with you.

This project is part of my ongoing Book of Many Mini Quilts series, where we’re creating small quilts throughout the year that can be hung, collected, and enjoyed over time. Each mini has its own personality, and Morning Rising brings in a completely different feel with a double-point Dresden plate, straight line quilting, and two different quilting options for finishing the design.

If you’ve been wanting to try a Dresden project without committing to a full-size quilt, this is a really approachable place to start.

Watch the Welcome Video

In this first lesson, I’m giving an overview of the class, walking through what we’ll be making together, and showing some of the quilting and finishing details we’ll be using throughout the project.

What We’ll Be Doing in This Class

In the Morning Rising Mini Quilt Class, we’ll work through the quilt step-by-step together.

We’ll begin by piecing the background block, then move into straight line quilting using a walking foot and a Hera marker. After that, we’ll build the double-point Dresden plate and explore two different ways to attach and quilt it.

One option uses more traditional top stitching and seam quilting, while the second option uses free motion quilting with flowing S-curves across the Dresden blades for a softer, more textured look.

To finish the mini, we’ll add fabric or ribbon hanging loops so the quilt is ready to go straight onto the wall.

A Confident Beginner Mini Quilt

I would consider Morning Rising a confident beginner project.

The piecing itself is very manageable, but the Dresden construction and quilting details make this a really fun opportunity to stretch your skills a little while still working on a smaller, finishable project.

And because this is a mini quilt, it feels much less overwhelming than jumping into a large quilt with the same techniques.

New Lessons Added Weekly

This class is currently being created in progress, so new lessons will be added weekly as we move through the project together.

You can quilt alongside me in real time or move at your own pace whenever you’re ready.

Morning Rising is one of the upcoming quilts from my Book of Many Mini Quilts project.

Some quilters will make just one. Others will keep going and see where they lead.

Either way, I’m really happy you’re here 💛
