Soulshine Quilt โ€“ Gentleness + English Toffee – Quilt Reveal

Soulshine in English Toffee

I rarely make quilts with darker backgrounds and I have no idea why not, because I LOOOOVVVVEEE this one in the Pure English Toffee from AGF. Gosh!! I can’t stop petting it…

If you missed my progress post on this one, you’ll find it here.

About this Soulshine

I used all the Gentleness fabrics for the “white” used in the quilt. The star points, star centers and backing was all Earthy Goodness fabrics. I had to pick and choose what I used in the pattern. On one hand I made the modern version that the pattern details, but I also used scrappy for the outer parts of the star, so I didn’t follow the instructions exactly and kind of mixed the modern and scrappy versions together.

I quilted this one with elongated swirls and regular swirls and petals here and there. I have some of these FMQ tutorials here.

I’ve been really working on getting smoother with those elongated swirls. They’ve been a bit clunky in the past and I keep using them in hopes of getting better. I can definitely see some growth, but I feel like there is still some work to do.

  1. This one is very pretty. I donโ€™t do dark backgrounds either but I really like this. I also liked the version someone did with the blue background. Also, I really need to learn some free quilting designs. So Iโ€™ll be watching your tutorials.
