Today I’m sharing some of the free quilt patterns that you can find on my blog.

Every Free Pattern Available

Scrappy 9-Patch Quilt – This one is a great pattern for beginners and also a great pattern to deal with your scrap baskets. Find the pattern here.

Single Irish Chain Quilt – This is a quilt I’ve made several times and it’s perfect for using up your scraps.  It’s simple and traditional.  Find the pattern here and see all the quilts I’ve made with this pattern here.

Star Dance Quilt – Star Dance was part of a quilt along I hosted summer of 2018 with Coats + Clark.  The quilt involves friendship stars, so lots of half square triangle practice.  It’s a pretty great quilt if you are a beginner.  You can find the PDF pattern here.  See my posts on this quilt here.

Hand Cut Heart Quilt – I haven’t made one of these in a bit, but fingers crossed I get to soon.  Hand Cut Heart Quilt involves using up a heck of alot of scraps and some machine applique.  Find the pattern within this post.  See all my Hand Cut Heart quilts here.

A Dresden Quilt – This is one of my favorites and I’ve made this quilt a gazillion times.  We are looking into doing a quilt along for it some time next year.  The quilt is made up of large 4-patch blocks with the majority of those blocks featuring a Dresden plate.  I’ve got all the video tutorials you need to complete this quilt.  Find the pattern here and all the quilts I’ve made with it here.  This is a great pattern if you are looking to opening yourself into the skill of Dresdens, which just so happens to be pretty easy.  Tedious mind you, but easy.

Pineapple Parade Quilt – I’ve only made this quilt just the once, but it’s a fun one and if you are sitting on a hella lot of 2.5″ squares it might be just the quilt you are looking for.  The pattern is within this post.  This is another one I think would be good for beginners.

Orange Peel Quilt – This is a pretty old tutorial of mine and I’m afraid it’s showing its age a bit.  Still if you can muddle your way through, it’s one of my most popular blog posts.  The quilt uses larger squares and good old machine raw edge applique.  I’ve made this quilt many times, but it’s been quite a while for me.  You’ll find the pattern in this blog post.

Half Hexie Quilt – Here is another oldie and happens to be consistently my most popular blog post.  Not sure why.  It’s a tedious quilt, but it’s hexies so…..  Who doesn’t love a good hexie shape.  You’ll find the tutorial for this quilt here and here are all the Half Hexie quilts that I’ve made to date.

Tumbler Quilt – This is an involved quilt and when I say involved, I mean INVOLVED.  Once was enough for me.  I do really really love the quilt I made from it though.  Here is the pattern.

I am Enough Quilt – I am Enough is another special journey for me.  I adore this quilt.  It’s most definitely high on my list for my top fave makes.  I’d tell you that a beginner can make this quilt, but be prepared to stretch yourself out of your comfort zone.  There’s hand stitching involved if you want, but not if you don’t.  It’s a very “be yourself” journey.  It’s got some really cool blocks in it and many that I’d never done before.  I always enjoy getting out of my own box a bit.  I am Enough is a modern sampler quilt that was part of a quilt along.  You can find all the patterns here along with video tutorials.

  1. Dang, girl!! This is a LOT of free quilt patterns!! Im sure you know Anthologie is the nearest and dearest to my heart ?? But count me 100% IN for a Little Miss Sawtooth QAL, I have been dreaming of making this quilt, and SO envious that i came along after the first QAL for this!!! YAY, YAY – SUPER excited and i just got my sewing room put back together, after family moved in with me, so I AM READY!! I would be interested in the scrappy pattern packs… these would be new patterns? Or existing pattern packaged together? Either way, sounds super cool (like EVERYTHING you do!) and if I already have tons of scraps, i can just imagine others’ scrap bins!!!

  2. This was a delightful trip through your work. I only discovered you relatively recently and had no idea about some of these beauties. How nice to have them featured together here.

As for your question, I’m not clear if you’re planning to target newer quilters or scrap quilters. Newer quilters are unlikely to have a pile of scraps, so you might want to give them some tips on how to work from something like layer cakes or a more controlled palette. I suppose that could be as easy as having a couple of images that aren’t wildly scrappy included. Just a thought.

  3. I’d be interested in your take on scrappy patterns. I’m definitely looking forward to the Little Miss Sawtooth quilt along
