MARIPOS QUILT PATTERN

beginner

Mariposa means “butterfly” in Spanish, and this is my second butterfly quilt pattern to date. I have been enchanted with butterflies since girlhood, which continued into my teenage years and resulted in a very unfortunate tattoo. I may regret the tattoo, but the love of butterflies has never left me.

While designing Mariposa, my goal was to create a very simple, modern block, made with mostly solids and tonals. This way I could fancifully quilt in the wings…or at least try to!

This is a fat quarter friendly quilt, and it doesn’t require many fabrics! Each fat quarter will make two butterfly blocks. All the sizing and measurements were chosen for maximum fabric use and minimal waste. Cut carefully! We featured a quilt along for this pattern here.
