Para Para Quilt #3 – Spirited Version – Quilt Reveal

I’ll be talking about the Para Para quilt today. This one has sat unfinished since February/March. We had the Para Para quilt along at the beginning of the year and seems like it finished up right around the time Covid began or became widespread. I became involved with other things and the quilt top…

Quilt Reveal – Para Para Quilt #2 – Violet Sky Fabrics

She’s done!!  I feel so good about this one.  It’s very rare for me not to have some changes I wish I had made on fabrics, but on this quilt I really love all the fabrics used and how they look together.  I did get creative with my free motion quilting too and that’s…

Pattern Release – Para Para Quilt

It’s release day!!  I love this quilt y’all.  It’s one of my favorites.  It’s not an easy one, it’s one you sink your teeth into and have to pay attention to.  BUT sometimes that’s exactly what you need and want!  I love that’s it’s square, that it’s HUGE (80″), that it’s a sampler of…

Work in Progress – Para Para Quilt #2 – Violet Sky Fabrics

I feel like I’ve been doing everything in slow motion.  There’s not seeming to be enough hours in the day lately.  I’m ten days late having this quilt top completed (a self imposed deadline).  I’m distracted with doing nothing and I’m starting to get on my own nerves.  Do you ever feel this way? …

Quilt Reveal – Para Para + 2020 Goals

Well, she’s done.  My very last finish in 2019 and the one I spent all of 2019 wanting to make.  If you missed my last posts on this Para Para quilt, you can find them here, here and here. Happy New Year by the way!  I’m looking forward to 2020 and I’m getting asked…

Work in Progress – Para Para Quilt – Finished Quilt Top

Last week I finished my first Para Para quilt top.  Finally!  Y’all, I have been dreaming about this quilt since early 2019 and now that I’ve finished it, well, finished the top, I am ecstatic.  I’m already dreaming up the next one. I should be quilting her up in the next day or two…

This chapter focuses on organic and curved movemen This chapter focuses on organic and curved movement, where the goal is less about perfection and more about flow. Paisley, toothpaste swirls, organic squiggle lines, and S-curves all ask for a slightly different kind of attention, but together they build a really solid foundation for all-over quilting. This has been one of my favorite chapters to stitch. 👏 I really enjoyed this one.quiltyclass.com

Just work through the lessons. We will make some yuck stitches and that is OKAY! In Chapter 3, we work on three designs that are id In Chapter 3, we work on three designs that are ideal for borders and sashing:Swirls in a borderSwirls are a classic FMQ design, but they are not the easiest to master. When I first started quilting, my swirls were always a little too pointy or just kind of strange looking. Honestly, mine still sometimes come out a little funky. That’s okay. We stitch anyway and keep building that rounded movement.Ribbon candyRibbon candy is beautiful and traditional, but let’s just say it can feel a bit hard. We try a looser approach too, and I show you a version I used in the borders of my Dilly Dally quilt that I absolutely love.Wishbone loopsWishbones are a personal favorite. I usually quilt them as a filler, especially inside flower centers. In this chapter, we take that familiar design and try it in a border space to give it a new role.Join in at Quilty Club - http://www.quiltyclub.com/
