Dresden Bohemia – #6 – Anthologie Quilt Along

We’ve come to the big section of Dresden plates for the Anthologie quilt. Squee!! I am so ridiculously into making Dresden plates and I got so excited to make these again. There’s so many of these in this quilt and it can get a bit confusing, so I’m going to walk you through what I do to stay organized. But make sure you are having fun! Because that’s the most important part. 🙂

Get the pattern here if you haven’t already.

Our Task

There are 8 Dresden plates total in Dresden Bohemia and they break down into quarters, halves and whole plates and they are scattered all about the quilt.

This is going to take some time, so I’d suggest staggering it. Also, I like to make in sections. I’ll pull all the fabrics for the blades first, just so I know I get a good array of fabrics and then pair them up. After that, I made the single dresden plate first, and pin it down to it’s background. Then, I moved on to the two loose Dresdens and pinned it down again. Then, I made the two bigger plates in the large section, then the smaller one, then I did the quarter and half. I then made the background for the big section and then pinned all the plates to that background. I did it this way, so I didn’t cut the wrong size blades for anything (I hate messing up). Once I had everything pinned, I changed my thread to the Microquilter and stitched all the plates down. I did it this way, so I would only have to change thread once. From here, it’s the faces and then of course, we have quite a bit of section building happening.

Omigosh, I had so much fun working on this section! I got behind because of Thanksgiving and the new baby in our family, so I ended up doing the whole section at once and it took me two days, but I didn’t mind at all.

Community

Since IG has limited hashtags here in the US, I can’t see what you are posting, so I’ll skip the community section again this round. I hate it too. Due to this I’m changing up the way for the giveaway this week. There is still a few hours left, but I posted yesterday and all you have to do to enter the giveaway is leave a comment in the post and have some of your progress in your feed. Don’t forget to be following me and @meanderandmake. I’ll be choosing two winners this morning to make up for not choosing one last round.

So sorry about the hassle of this, but ugh, Instagram. We are making do!! And also, I’ve been reading through the comments from those of you who have already left them and agh! Y’all are just amazing!! I adore quilt alongs and this one has just been beautiful. Thank you so much for participating and your lovely words.

Have fun, have fun, have fun!!
